Carol, Frances, Anne, Steve, Laura and Mary and families,
Aunt Marion and Uncle Howard and you, the cousins, were a special part of my early years growing up near Kirkton. I always admired Aunt Marion, how calm she was with a house full of people. In later years Aunt Marion and Uncle Howard were so good to my Mom (Mary Neil) after my Dad passed away. As long as Aunt Marion was with us, I felt a close connection – a connection to my Mom as well even though she (and Uncle Howard) have been gone for almost 19 years. Aunt Marion was the last of that generation and it always felt so good to visit with her when I came home to Exeter. Our condolences to you all – she was one of a kind, a life well-lived.

To Marion’s Family,
We have not seen your mom for a very long time but certainly we remember her well. We share the condolences written by others. I have enjoyed your pictures and have viewed them several times as I try to place the grand children and great grandchildren. The picture of surprise and delight of your mom and dad on what looks like a special occasion is a great photo. I love it! .
With sympathy and with ‘long ago’ neighbour and community memories of your family.

What a wonderful long life Marion lived. I loved visiting Howard and Marion at the farm with my dad, Harold Johns. I particularly liked getting up early in the morning to help with the milking of the cows (by hand in those days). We stayed with Howard and Marion on at least one occasion after the annual Johns picnic in Exeter, after we moved from Saskatoon to Toronto in 1956. My dad and Howard were great friends, the same age, I believe, and passed away within a year of each other. Marion was always so kind to us – she was a great cook and we had wonderful “farm” breakfasts after the milking. Howard and Marion were at our wedding in Toronto in 1965. Carol and her husband Bob were very kind to my parents in their later years in Toronto and my sisters and I were very grateful for their kindness. I remember Marion with great fondness.

Dear Family,
We share so many memories of a community, family ties, and dear friendships. Memories of the farm next door……the little house at the end of the lane……Marion’s wonderful smile and gentle ways. She had the most beautiful hand writing and a letter from our home to the Villa was always appreciated and shared with all of you. We say “good-bye”, but the treasured memories will remain and our ties to dear friends continue. We send love to all.
Margaret & Lorne
