Peacefully at Blue Water Rest Home, Zurich on March 15, 2018, Geraldine Ruth Smith passed away in her 89th year. Beloved wife of the late William Smith (2004). Devoted mother of the late Virginia Smith (2009), Jayne and Brian McCann of Mt. Carmel and Robert and Wendy Smith of Kelowna B.C. Proud grandmother, treasured by Skye and Erin; Blair, Melanie, Lisa, Josie. Great-grandmother of 6 grandchildren. Dear sister of Jim Prout and sister-in-law of Anne Prout, Marg Prout, Eva May Prout, June Moore, Bonnie and Ed Saska, and Sherrie Broderick. Predeceased by brothers, Charles Jr., Robert, Glen, Gerald (twin), Ted, and Jack, brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws, Olga Prout, Dorothy Prout, Marie Prout, Murray Moore, Gord and Helen Smith, Wanda and Ron Hedden, and Ron Broderick. Geraldine was born and raised in Usborne Township and forever cherished her memories of farm life with her parents and 7 brothers. She enjoyed her career years working in the automotive industry, first with Larry Snider Motors and then Eric Campbell Motors. Upon retiring, Geraldine took great joy being part of her family’s adventures.
Cremation has taken place and there will be private family arrangements at a later date. Haskett Funeral Home, Exeter entrusted with arrangements.
The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at Blue Water Rest Home for the excellent care and compassion extended to Geraldine. Those wishing to make a donation on Geraldine’s behalf are asked to consider donating to the charitable non-profit organization Blue Water Rest Home.
We are always willing to go where called upon but this image shows a visual of the communities that our included in our initial transportation fee. We offer a 40km radius from any of our 5 locations (Arva (London), Exeter, Lucan, Seaforth, and Zurich). Any mileage beyond the included 40km will be charged a rate of $2.50/km (one way travel only).

To Geraldine’s Family:
I always looked forward to seeing Gerry’s beautiful smile on my visits to see our Mom at Blue Water, and earlier, at the Villa. She and Edna worked together at the bank in the 1950’s, and this connection to a long time friend made Edna’s adjustment to her new life in assisted living much easier. She often brought us the framed pictures of her family to show us, her pride and joy. Gerry was a lovely, kind and gentle person, and we will miss her very much.
