It is with great sadness, the family announces the unexpected, peaceful passing of Teresa (McIntosh) Byrne at Mount Hope Centre for Long Term Care, on Sunday, June 16, 2019. Cherished and devoted wife of John “Jack” Byrne. After 69 years of marriage, Jack is over whelmed with sadness to lose the “love of his life”. Selfless mom of the late Delores Byrne, Keith and Lucille Byrne, Deborah and Paul Walmsley, Kevin and Ivy Byrne, Diane and Kevin Coulter, Denise Byrne, and John and Julie Byrne. Teresa will be missed by special companion and loyal friend Trudy O’Neill. She will be fondly and lovingly remembered by all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dear sister and sister-in-law of Shirley Pemberton, Colleen Bonner, Rita McIntosh, Rita Byrne, Jim and Lenore Byrne, and Margaret Fowler. Aunt Teresa will be missed by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by Daniel and Elizabeth McIntosh, grandson Ian Byrne, her angel great-grandchildren, sisters; Annie, Jane, Mary, Amelia “Danno”, and brothers; Johnny, Tommy, Joe, Angus, and Clarence “Toots”. Teresa will be forever remembered for her quick wit, and sense of humour. She was an avid walker, golfer, a long time member of the Catholic Women’s League, and active in many social and community groups. She and Jack travelled extensively, wintering in Florida for many years, participating in a variety of activities. She enjoyed and achieved a satisfying work life in retail. She dedicated her life to her family and friends, enjoying socializing and entertaining with them over the years. The family wishes to thank the staff at Mount Hope Long Term Care, the Alzheimer Society of Huron County and London-Middlesex, and One Care-Grand Bend, especially volunteer driver John Jacobs.
Visitation will be held at St. Boniface Catholic Church, 22 Mary Street, Zurich on Wednesday, June 19th from 9:30 – 10:30 AM, where the Funeral Mass will be held at 11 AM, Father Matt George presiding. Interment St. Boniface Cemetery on the Bronson Line. Following the interment, a luncheon will take place in the church hall.
For those who wish, donations to the Alzheimer Society of London-Middlesex would be appreciated by the family.
