Formerly of Exeter, and Ripley, at the age of 95, Howard passed peacefully at the Ritz Lutheran Villa, Mitchell on Wednesday, October 2, 2019. Cherished husband and best friend of Marjorie (Johns) Hodge for 72 years. Loving and devoted father of Judy Bellavance (Dieter Keller) of Stratford, and Brent Hodge (Tracey) of Brighton, Michigan. Proud Papa of Lindsay (Ryan), Adam (Allie), Breigh (Andrew); Cole (Abby), and Troy. Much loved great-papa of Oscar. Dear brother-in-law of Evelyn Johns of Lucan. Predeceased by his brother William Hodge, and sisters Ida Van, and Bernie Lehman.
Howard was a dedicated member of the Ripley and Exeter Lions Clubs, he was awarded a lifetime membership in 2010. He enjoyed his time with the Ripley and Exeter Curling Clubs, and was an avid camper with the Exeter Nomads. Howard was a quiet man with a dry sense of humour. Well respected by all who had the privilege to know him, he lived his life with a great deal of pride, strength, and integrity. Howard was the proud owner of Hodge’s Garage in Ripley for 25 years, and a valued employee of Ontario Hydro until his retirement in 1989. His never ending commitment to family gave him his greatest pleasure.
Visitation will be held at Haskett Funeral Home, 370 William Street, EXETER on Monday evening from 6 – 8 PM. A Lion’s service will be held in the funeral home on Monday, at 5:45 PM. The memorial service will be held on Tuesday, October 8th at 11 AM. Cremation with interment Zion Cemetery.
