It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Marietta Elizabeth (Taylor) Fischer of Ilderton on Thursday, February 27, 2020 in her 97th year. Marietta was predeceased by her husband Leonard Fischer (1995) and is survived by her son Robert (Bob) Fischer and May Paule. Dear daughter of the late George and Bertha Taylor. Also a “special mother” to Nancy Manning and her husband Bob. “Special Grandmother” to JR and Colleen Manning, Jacob, Mitchell, Madison and Sam; and Chelsey and Jon Passmore, and Taylor (Marietta’s namesake). Special aunt to Pam and Bryan Woeller. Predeceased by her daughter-in-law Monica Fischer (2017) and brother Jim and his wife Jean. Survived by several nieces and nephews. Marietta was a hard working house cleaner for many years for people in and around Ilderton. She loved to maintain her flower gardens and in her day could bake a prize winning butter tart and was an enthusiastic Blue Jays fan and arm chair curler. Her outgoing personality, kindness, friendship, and love of life was a gift to everyone she met.
Friends may call at the Vanneck United Church, 22651 Vanneck Road, Ilderton on Friday, March 6th one hour prior to the celebration of life which will be held at 11am. Cremation with spring interment Telfer Cemetery. Haskett Funeral Home, Lucan (519-227-4211) entrusted with arrangements.

Those we love don’t go away,
They walk beside us everyday,
Unseen, unheard, but very near,
Still loved, still missed and very dear.

Dear Bob and May, on behalf of the McKinlay family I would like to send you our condolences. Your mum was a wonderful, hardworking and fun lady. I’ll miss her yelling out of her car to say hi. Her hair in rollers on Saturday so she would look good for church on Sunday. Regifting chocolates to give to my son’s ( they shared a birthday with her) when they brought her flowers on her birthday. Good memories.

Expressing our condolences to Bob, friends and extended family. Marietta was a visible fixture of Ilderton always in a hurry but always time for a cheerful smile and greeting. She was definitely a matriarch for the village for years.

Goodbye Aunt Marietta,
Although John & I are sad that Aunt Marietta has passed away, we are also relieved that such a vibrant person was spared from a lengthy, prolonged illness.
Aunt Marietta and I every autumn would go to Pam & Byron’s for a ‘sleepover’ and some very competitive scrabble & euchre games.
We always travelled through
Dublin, Conestoga, to Bloomingdale stopping at every antique store along the way. Aunt Marietta would say to me “Kate we are just!! looking DO NOT let me buy anything I have a house full of antiques now”. Well we all know how the rest of that story goes!!
Aunt Marietta was so full of life, so many friendships, family, shuffleboard, scrabble!
We will miss you so very much Aunt Marietta!
Love John & Cathy Taylor

Please accept our sincere condolences. I can still hear Marietta’s voice as she sang to us on our birthdays. Her phone calls were never long but heartfelt.
I believe Len & Marietta were a huge support to my parents, Tom& Eileen Rushton when they moved to the area in 1962.
.Mike & I will always remember hiding our car and changing our wedding clothes at their beautiful home.
So many fond memories….

Faye& Mike Geoghegan

So very sorry for your loss. Marietta was a special friend and neighbour. The beauty and colour in her gardens were a perfection reflection of the beauty of her soul.

Your Mom, Bob, was a very special person and every visit Chris and I had with you included her.
To have lived such a long and rich life, that she shared with so many, is amazing.
And cannot forget her zest for life and marvellous sense of humour. I will remember her “fascinate” joke for my lifetime.
Heartfelt regards , Bill
