Ada Mary Grace Corbett, of Seaforth, passed away suddenly at Seaforth Community Hospital, on Tuesday, April 7, 2020. In her 83 years among us Grace was a source of caring and kindness within the circle of her family, friends and community. In her work as a nurse, as part of her church family, and as an exercise coach promoting health and wellness amongst seniors, Grace’s friendly smile and warm demeanor were a gift to many. Family gatherings were special times with Grace ensuring all the seasonal touches were added.
Grace will be lovingly remembered by her husband Norman Dawe. Cherishing memories of a much loved mother are Jim and Marla Corbett of Guelph, Steven Corbett of Stratford, Karen Corbett of Bangkok, Thailand and son-in-law Keith Harburn and Nicola of Milton. Memories of a much loved grandmother remain with Dilan and Allison, Spencer, Meghann, Carrie, Tracie and Samir, Nathan and Polly and great granddaughter Nancy Polly. Grace will also be fondly remembered by sister-in-law Elizabeth Larder and the Dawe family.
In faith, we trust that Grace’s spirit is now reunited in eternal life with her first husband Donald (2004), their daughter Nancy (2002), siblings Patricia Douglas and Robert Larder and her parents Albert and Mary (née Hepworth) Larder.
Haskett Funeral Home, 87 Goderich Street West, Seaforth are entrusted with arrangements. Honouring Grace’s wishes cremation has taken place and inurnment will take place in Maitlandbank Cemetery. A time for friends and family to gather and celebrate the many ways Grace influenced our lives will take place when love, support and hugs can once again be shared safely. In the meantime, remember Grace with a smile and take a moment to enjoy a good piece of chocolate as Grace always so enjoyed.
As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations to Seaforth Community Hospital Auxiliary or the Seaforth Lions Park and Pool Fund would be appreciated by the family.

My most vivid memory of Grace was at Mom & Dad’s 50th anniversary party in her beautiful dress, eyes shining and enjoying the New Year’s celebration. She was a good friend to Mom and a wonderful community member in Seaforth. May she rest in peace and be with you in spirit at this difficult time.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to the whole Corbett family. We have great memories of Grace and Don and their involvement in the Seaforth Community, especially the Seaforth Lions Club. As a couple they played many a key role in the club. Both worked on the Lions TV Bingo over the years. Grace continued her involvement in the club in many ways, after Don passed away. She will be very much missed.

To Grace’s family:
Deepest sympathy to the family: It will be the little things that you remember. The quiet moments, the smiles, the laughter. And although it may seem hard right now. It will be the memories of these little things that help push away the pain and bring the smiles back again.

We were very shocked and saddened to hear of Grace’s death this week. She was a long time Volunteer Exercise Instructor with ONE CARE and was the driving force in setting up the Seaforth Exercise program many years ago being one of the main reasons for it’s continued success today. I recall CKNX filming her first class at the Seaforth Agriplex and Scott Miller interviewing her for the evening news. He summed up the interview by aptly referring to her as “Amazing Grace.” That says it all. She was also a dedicated community volunteer with our Senior’s Dining program as one of the friendly faces at the Reception desk for many years. She was also one of our callers for the dining program being instrumental in promoting and maintaining the programs growth and success over her many years of service. On behalf of our team of ONE CARE volunteers and staff and the participants in those programs, we send our sincere condolences to her family and friends. She will be sadly missed by everyone in our ONE CARE community.
