Peacefully at Marian Villa, London on Friday, July 4, 2014 (formerly of Capreol, Ontario) James Frederick Jenkin in his 78th year. Loving husband of Ann (nee Zajacz) and cherished father of Clara (Dave) McVittie. Very proud and beloved “Papa” of Paul and Lindsay. Survived by his dear brother Keith (Carol) Jenkin of North York and sister-in-law Doreen Jenkin of Cobourg. Predeceased by his parents Capt. Earl Jenkin and Viola (Hodgins) and brothers Robert and Paul. Fred was a man who was very passionate about fishing and hunting and loved to visit any place ‘north’ of the French River. He enjoyed both his camps in Felix and Westree, Ontario. Some of his fondest memories were the times spent on Manitoulin Island with his best friend Karl Campbell. Fred was a resident of 5th floor Marian Villa where he was frequently referred to as “a resident who never gave us a hard time and was so easy to get along with.” The family would like to express their sincere thanks and deepest gratitude for the staff’s compassionate care during Fred’s stay at Marian Villa (particularly over these past 2 weeks). A special acknowledgement to Dr. Lloyd Brubacher for his support during this difficult time. As per Fred’s wishes, cremation has taken place.
Friends and relatives will be received by the family from 12:30-1:30 pm prior to the memorial service being held on Wednesday, July 9, 2014 at 2:00 pm at HASKETT FUNERAL HOME, 223 Main St., Lucan. A private family interment will follow at St. James Cemetery, Lucan.
As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
*A tree will be planted in Westree, Ontario by the family as a living memorial to Fred.
