It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Beverley Anne (Goudge) Hardie on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 of Exeter, at the age of 81. Bev battled for months following complications from surgery.
Bev is survived by her loving husband George, son Gord (Melanie), her grandsons Tyler, Evan and Logan, brother Brian (Marion) Goudge and sister Thirza (the late Michael) Gonsalves, and 7 nieces and nephews. Bev was predeceased by her parents Edward Goudge and Frances (Chard) Goudge, her sister Louise and brother-in-law Floyd Woods.
Bev was endlessly supportive and proud of her family, lending a hand wherever possible, and attending countless track and field days, soccer and hockey games and proudly cheering her grandsons on.
She lived to help others – whether it was family, neighbours, friends or complete strangers, Bev was willing to pitch in. Bev served her community as a Deaconess and Elder at the various churches she was a member of over the years.
A knitter, crocheter and quilter all her life, Bev revelled in learning to do new things, and didn’t give up until she mastered the technique. In later years she passed this knowledge on to a new generation by teaching quilting classes.
Bev was a huge Blue Jays fan – from attending opening day of the inaugural season in 1977 to the last game Bev attended with her son Gord in 2019, she always hung in there with the boys in Blue.
A private family ceremony will be held at Exeter Cemetery on Monday, May 16th, with interment to follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family would ask you to consider donations in her memory to one of these organizations that have all impacted our family: Heart and Stroke Foundation, CNIB or The Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada.

I am so sorry for your loss, Bev was such a special person and my Mom and Dad so enjoyed her and George’s company while in Florida. My Dad especially loved all the good times that they all had working in the kitchen. Hope you can take comfort that Bev is no longer suffering and is at peace. My heart and prayers go out to all of you.

I am so sorry to hear of Bev’s passing. I got to know her best on Tuesday afternoons at crafts at the clubhouse. The last while we were there before covid came along, she usually had pairs of mittens to be sewn. She made mittens to send north each winter. While she was still managing to knit them, it hard got hard for her to sew them, and i was happy to help with that. The last ones she had done, were for the 2022 season to send, as she had made some ahead…I am sure her mittens will be missed by her northern recipients. Loved listening to her stories also. She will be missed.

Dear George and family.
It was a blessing to get to know Bev at Red Oaks in Florida where we attended church in the park together. Bev taught me to quilt which I still enjoy. I was privileged to be able to help her complete some of her quilts after her eyesight deteriorated. Rick and I especially enjoyed meeting you and Bev for lunch in Stratford. We will miss her.
Praying for you and your family. May you find peace and comfort in the memories of a wonderful wife, mother, sister, aunt, and grandmother that Bev was. She was so proud of all of you.
