It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Barbara Elizabeth (Driscoll) MacDonald. With her loving daughter at her side, Barbara passed away peacefully in her home on December 23, 2022 at the age of 80. Proud mother of Sharri MacDonald of Hensall. Dear sister of John and Mary Lou Driscoll of Walton. Barb will be missed by her nieces, nephews and many friends. Predeceased by her parents Ross and Dorothy (nee Somerville) Driscoll, partner of 40 years, Bill Ross of Brucefield, and brothers Ron Driscoll (Karen) and Gordon Driscoll.
Barb was born to Ross and Dorothy Driscoll of Leadbury. She grew up on the family farm with her three brothers. Barb was a patient, caring and hard-working woman. At age 17, she trained to be a nurses’ aid at Exeter hospital and then she worked at both Huronview and HuronLea. It was here that Barb gained the respect of her colleagues for the devotion that she showed to all of her clients. After 45 years working in nursing, Barb retired. Her love of everything chocolate led her to work at Sugar and Spice in Exeter for 7 years. Barb went on to care for her beloved Bill until his passing. Barb fought a long battle with cancer, all the while keeping up a positive and determined attitude. Barb loved life: she loved to dance, sew, bake, play cards with her friends and help Sharri at school. Barb’s sense of humour and loving manner will be missed by many.
Visitation will be held at Haskett Funeral Home, 87 Goderich Street West, SEAFORTH on Thursday, December 29th from 6 – 8 PM. Registration is required. Please click “Register Now” below, to register. Barb’s memorial service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, December 30th at 11AM. Cremation has taken place. Spring interment will be held at Maitlandbank Cemetery, Seaforth.
Donations to the Saint Elizabeth Foundation or the Egmondville United Church would be appreciated by the family.

For all Barbs family . Dropped in to see her twice over the summer , once with my sister Frances. Had a great visit about old times at school her milking cows by hand at Clinton seniors home, she spraying the cat with milk. Helping me get patched up after falling off Gordon’s bike being pushed down gangway. Sorry to hear about your loss she was a great girl.

Sharri, I am so sad that your mother and I fell out of touch these last few years. I actually thought to myself a few weeks ago, as I drove down Airport Line (where I can remember having multiple phone conversations with her as I drove to and from work) that I should track her down again and phone her. Your mother was such an instrumental part of my life when working at Sugar & Spice (and then the many years following it). She loved you more than life itself. Thanks for sharing her with the world.
