Passed away at South Huron Hospital on Monday, January 30, 2023, of Hensall at the age of 91. Beloved husband of the late Wilma (Kyle) Caldwell. Proud father of Jamie and Barb Caldwell, Todd and Krista Caldwell, and Missy Caldwell. Adored grandpa of Brittany Caldwell, Amber and Shane Dougall; Nathan, and Dakota Caldwell; Bridget, and Griffin Rowe and great-grandpa of Rachael, Emily, and Megan Dougall. Dear brother-in-law of Val Kyle. Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents William and Edna (Sararas) Caldwell, and siblings, Ron, Shirley, Jean, and Bob.
Shorty was an avid card player, he enjoyed a good game of pepper and solo. There were very few hockey games and curling matches missed on the TV. Shorty worked at Northlander for many years and also kept busy with farming. Upon retirement and moving off the farm, he kept busy with his yard and helping other farmers out with plowing. Right up to the age of 90, Shorty had a garden at home, growing his famous sweet corn and potatoes. Back when we had “real” winters, he enjoyed getting out on the groomer and making the trails perfect for snowmobilers coming from near and far.
Keeping with Shorty’s wishes, a private family interment will be held at Baird’s Cemetery in the spring.
Donations to Canadian Cancer Society or Diabetes Canada would be appreciated by the family.

So many gatherings and fun times at the Caldwell homestead and Shorty always welcomed us with open arms. Lot’s of teasing and laughter and many times we had him rubbing his head in complete dismay! Eventually we were old enough to share drinks together and socialize and through all those years Shorty added to the fun and great times! These memories will be cherished forever!
