Bob, Bobby, Dad,
“I respect a man who can heal a heart he didn’t break
and raise a child he didn’t make.”
My Dearest Bobby,
Thank you for being the man, Dad & friend you didn’t have to be. You taught us all how to love and be loved. You taught us how to love ourselves when someone told us we were unlovable. You taught us to carry our own torches to light our darkest days. You taught us to look up to find our way, look ahead to find our path and only look down to find our footing.
We will think of you when we hear a terrible fart joke, plant a garden, watch a sunset, climb a waterfall, swim in the backyard pool, bale hay or eat some incredible BBQ. Your three greatest passions in life were family, friends and charcoal grilling and you always shared one with the other.
The greatest honour of my life was being your wife. You were my best friend, my confidant, my cheerleader and always, my silent partner. I will miss our adventures to explore waterfalls, find the perfect sunset, or the hunt for exotic lumber. I will miss lawn boy Bobby who always cut the perfect golf green, my French chauffeur Robert who would take me anywhere I wanted or needed to go, chef Roberto who loved his barbeque as much as he did his wife, and pool boy Bob who was always up for inappropriate jokes with those he loved in the backyard.
The kids, I think are going to miss you the most. Each one of them is painfully aware that you were the “Dad” you didn’t have to be. Vicki (Wes), Alexis, Dana (Wes), Geoffrey have all grown into strong, brilliant, capable adults because of the guidance, love and kindness you showed them. You were “bonus Dad” to Meagan, foster Dad to Kat, Olivia & Emily. For many more, you were always ready with that special Bob hug in times of need.
You know, Jason claims to be the better electrician, but as your wife, I can’t vote because I have never really seen either of you do much more than change a light bulb, but I guess that’s what I get for marrying an electrician.
We had only just begun to live the life we dreamed of in Muskoka and 56 was way too young for you to go. We will get creative in your shop, the kids & I will put in the garden, and I will watch every sunset knowing you are just on the other side.
I know you are catching up with your mom (Nancy) & Dad (Keith) who you haven’t seen in a long time while your brother Steven (Cathy) and many extended family mind the farm down here.
You left a very profound impact on everyone you met. It was an honour and a privilege to walk beside you, learn from you, laugh with you and be loved by you.
Thank you for everything you gave us, taught us, and inspired in us.
Forever & Always ~ No Matter What…
Your Wife, Andi

What a beautiful tribute to Bob. I’m proud of the man he became through your words. It’s been a long time since I babysat him at the home farm when he was a rambunctious boy! I’m happy to know he found happiness in life with you all. RIP 🥰

Dear Andi
Your life with Bob was filled with love and family and adventure. During this sad time your wonderful family will surround you with that love.
Your tribute to Bob was shining with the joy you had together. Those memories will always be with you
Nancy and I were life long friends as we followed our hockey guys through the years. Our weddings were within weeks of each other. We had a group that met yearly, Max and Stu and Keith and Tom and Don and wives, reliving hockey triumphs. We were also with Nancy on one of here favourite boat trips from Kingston to Ottawa.
I will be with you in spirit today but I will be unable to be with you in person because I have a commitment that I can not break.
I will get in touch with a call in the future.
All my love
Deirdre
