It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Donna Kathryn (Graham) Hodgins, on Friday, July 28, 2023, just a few days after her 85th birthday, peacefully in her own home with her family by her side. Donna was Born July 26, 1938. Beloved wife of Marvyn Loft Hodgins, they were married for 67 years. Donna’s pride and joy were her children, Brian & Kelly Hodgins, Bonnie & Steve Kraus, and Brad Hodgins & Lori Turner. Proud grandma of Lee & Shelley Hodgins, Justin Hodgins & Stephanie Clarke, Jessica & Kerlin Castillo, Kyle Kraus, Jason Hodgins & Sydney MacCabe, Ashley & Tim Dickey, and great grandma of Brayden & Curtis Hodgins. Blake, Ava, Emi, & Elsie Hodgins. Mila & Kira Castillo, and Jeremy, Hailey & Spencer Dickey. Dear sister and sister-in-law of the late John (2023) & Sylvia Graham, Lynn & the late Allan (2020) Ryan, Marie & the late Don (2015) Medd. Donna is survived by many cousins, nieces & nephews, friends, neighbours and extended family.
Donna was predeceased by her parents Donald and Jessie (Campbell) Graham, and her in laws Reta (Loft) & Clarence Hodgins, son Bruce Hodgins (1975), daughter-in-law Jennifer (Sleegers) Hodgins (2012) and grandson Greg Turner (2018).
Donna loved and embraced life. Donna grew up in Lobo township, where she went to a one room school house. Family has always been important to Donna, and she held her family close to her heart. Donna started working for the Royal Bank at the beginning of her career. After a few years of working, she decided to be full time stay at home mom, where her children kept her very busy. Donna worked along side Marvyn on the farm for many years. Once all the kids left home, mom took a job overseeing the baking at the Crest center in Lucan, until she retired. Donna and Marvyn enjoyed camping, travelling all over Canada and US, camping at Bass Lake. Donna and Marvyn love to tour in their 1936 Chev Cabriolet, they toured across Canada in the Coast to Coast in 2000. Both were known to stop in and grab the grandkids and great grandkids in the 36 Chev, to go for ice cream treats. Together they visited many dance halls during their travels near and far. Donna followed her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren’s hockey, baseball, soccer and figure skating events with passion. She was a 4 H leader, a Cub scout leader and also volunteered at the schools supporting her kids and grandkids. Donna and Marvyn travelled frequently with their Old Car Groups TRI-Lakes Region HASC, VCCA Club, Heritage 35, where they met many lifelong friends. Donna was in the Tri County Heritage club, and Ilderton United Church as well a long time UCW member.
Our Family wishes with heart felt thanks to those that have helped keep mom comfortable and at home over the last few years. Special thanks to Doctor Dan for his support, house calls and follow up. And to all the care givers, too many to name we appreciate you all, we could not have done this with out your help.
As per Donna’s wishes there will be no visitation or funeral. Arrangements entrusted to Haskett Funeral Home, Lucan (519-227-4211).
Donations can be made in her honour to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Jessica’s House, Exeter or charity of your choice.
