Peacefully at home in Seaforth, Ontario, on October 21, 2023. Beloved wife of Ray, loving mother of Kathy of Victoria, BC, Jennifer and Darren Sundin of Burk’s Falls, ON, and Cynthia St. John and Ron Herries of London, ON.
Cherished grandmother of Sydney and Michael Sundin, Emma Sundin-Rogers and Mike Rogers, and Madeline St. John. Loving Gigi of Scarlett Rae Sundin and Zachary Darren Sundin.
Jane was born in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario on August 15, 1938, daughter of James and Jean (Chitty) Foulds (deceased). She was the sister of Judy Foulds (predeceased) and Dr. Jim Foulds (Joella) of Cape Breton, Nova Scotia.
Jane had a long career as an educator, retiring Professor Emerita from The University of Western Ontario. The many summers spent at camp and then at a year-round home on beautiful Gawas Bay on St. Joseph Island were particularly special and memorable.
Cremation has taken place, and the family will celebrate her life together, privately. Your donations to Seaforth Community Hospital Foundation or to The Kensington Conservancy in Desbarats, Ontario would be much appreciated.

It’s Christmas Day and I am thinking of Jane organizing a big shindig in heaven. Making her famous jello mould with stuff inside, assigning tasks to the angels, while writing out name cards for the seating arrangement. Jane will be missed deeply by all who had the privilege to know her. My condolences to Ray, Kathy, Jennifer, Cynthia and their respective families.

A lively spirit, Jane always had a laugh for the crazy selfies Kathy would send from the west coast and appreciation for any little effort to make a moment special. A grammarian and matriarch of the amazing St John powerhouse women, and loving partner to Ray, she will forever be in your hearts. Kathy and I will be raising a toast and especially a whisky sour to her at the Empress Hotel soon. Hugs to all.
