Passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by her loving family on Monday, July 15, 2024 at the age of 80. Cherished wife of Anton Lave for over 58 years. Loving mom of Paul and Sandi Lave, Laura and Dean Stemmler, Rob and Wendy Lave, and Angie and Derek Yong. Adored grandma of Mady (Austin), Max (Maria), Megan, Andrew, Hannah, Caden, Ben, Julianna, Joshua, Mason, Madison, and Ty (Paige). Dear sister of Nancy Payne and Mike Hosier and sister-in-law of Beverley O’Neil, Carl and Gail Lave, Sonya Grigg, and Grethe and Scott Henn. Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Hiram and Marjorie (McPherson) O’Neil, brother Dan O’Neil, and brother-in-law Keith Grigg.
Gladys valued her work of 38 years as a Registered Nurse at St. Joseph’s Hospital in London. She was a natural caregiver, whether it be her career as a nurse, or the devotion to her pride and joy; her husband, children and grandchildren. She was so involved in their lives, taking them on outings and spending as much time with them as possible. She was an avid gardener and loved her beautiful flower beds at home. Gladys’ warm smile and kind heart will be missed by the neighbours and her community. The home she and Tony created together was her “happy place” and it was her wish to be at home surrounded by her family in her final days.
Visitation will be held at The Church of St. Jude, 1587 Adelaide Street North, LONDON on Monday, July 22nd from 9:30 – 10:30 AM, where Gladys’ funeral service will be held at 11 AM. Private family interment Birr Anglican Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the VON Hospice at Home Program, Canadian Cancer Society or the Canadian Rheumatology Association Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Davies at University Hospital, the palliative care team, including Dr.Matusa, and staff at VON for their care and compassion shown to Gladys and her family.

My childhood is filled with great memories of Gladys at the many Lave/McIntyre family barbeques and vacations. She had such a gentle kindness and warmth about her – so natural.
My more recent memories of Gladys are through my Mom’s very special friendship with her, as I was always given the updates after their hours long phone conversations or visits. My Mom (Marion) always reinforced what a truly kind and wonderful person and friend Gladys was throughout her entire life. She will be missed.
My condolences to Tony, Paul, Laura, Rob, Angela and all of the grandchildren.
