Passed away peacefully with her cherished daughter by her side at South Huron Hospital on Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at the age of 83. Proud mom of Martha “Marti” and Doug Butler. Adored grandma of Kristina and Chad, Nathan and Saori, Nicoline, and Victoria and great-grandma of Maddie, and Luca. Dear sister and sister-in-law of Dave and Jan Smart, and Don and Dinah Smart. Predeceased by her husbands Doug & Olavo.
First and foremost, Mom was a lover of Jesus and she spent the majority of her time with Him. She loved her grandkids and had only recently met both of her great-grand kids, which brought so much joy to her. We had a beautiful family reunion and we were able to spend a nice 83rd birthday with her while in hospital, just prior to her passing. She will be fondly remembered by her dear friend Elaine Beattie and close neighbour Sandra whom she often spent time with and talked about to her family.
Cremation has taken place and a private family memorial service will be held at a later date.
My time has come to say Goodbye. I’m home with Jesus now- don’t cry
For I have longed for all these years
Through many trials and many tears
To come to rest – to strive no more
To walk with joy through Heaven’s door
To shed this body wracked with pain
Purchased by HIS crimson stain
To trade it for eternal life
I’m now in Glory – there is no strife
I’m with My King, My Lord, My Friend
He walked with me right to the end
And met me when I breathed my last
And took me HOME – Beyond death’s grasp
KNOW I am where I want to be
My life complete – in victory
For I have entered into my rest
And from that place I call you blessed
So celebrate my graduation day
Do not lament my death I pray
For I am walking on streets of gold
Far more amazing than I was told
My life journey is now complete
In this race I did compete
And now I worship by the throne
reaping rewards for ALL I’ve sown
………..
You too, someday will complete YOUR quest
Our time on earth is but a test
My prayer for you is receive His Grace
So on that day – you look upon His FACE
With joy and gratefulness in your eyes
Rising above on earth what lies
His love for YOU it can be found
It’s simply speaking out the sound
“I receive your love – Lord I accept”
For it is over YOU He’s wept)

Sending my sincere condolences on the loss of your mom
I have been a long time neighbour of hers and we had lots of talks and visits
She was a strong independent woman and only accepted help in the last couple of years
I would sometimes get her mail and help her with the groceries much to her dismay that she needed it
Ruth had a quirky sense of humour and we would laugh together over some of her antics
She loved Gigi and would often sit and pet her
Always chatting and telling me what she was up to(shopping on Amazon)
What I admired and appreciated most was her strong faith which she would share with me on numerous occasions
Now she is happy and at peace with her Saviour
She will be dearly missed
