Passed away peacefully at South Huron Hospital on Tuesday, October 29, 2024 of Exeter, at the age of 90. Beloved wife of the late Doug Ritchie (2017). Cherished mother of Leisa Stephenson (Blaine), Linda Ritchie (Jamie), Paul Ritchie (Dana), and Marj Partridge. Proud grandma of Mike (Michelle), Cara (Matt), Leanne; Esmé (Hayden); Denise (John Paul), Danielle, Jordan; Mitchell (Lateesha), and Jake and great-grandma of 10 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by her parents Erie and Lloyd Schmous, step-father Harvey Tay, brother Jack, and sister Kathleen.
Fran was an avid reader and enjoyed a good book while watching the birds come and go from her bird feeders. She sat on the board of South Huron Hospital and the Exeter Library and often canvased for the Canadian Cancer Society. Fran was involved in her community and loved to volunteer whenever she had a chance.
Keeping with Fran’s wishes, cremation has taken place.
Donations to South Huron Hospital Foundation or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.

My deepest condolences to Fran’s family. Fran and I inevitably talked about dogs from the moment we first met in our neighbourhood. If I close my eyes, I can still see her out walking her beloved 4-legged babies. While I moved from the neighbourhood several years ago, I would still see her at the odd get-together during the holidays. I know she has been reunited with Doug and all of her fluffy babies again.
Hugs, Karen
