At South Huron Hospital Exeter on Saturday, July 5, 2003 Neil J. (Jack) O’Connor of Hensall in his 81st year. Beloved husband of Clara (Quinn) (Ridley) O’Connor. Dear father of Neil O’Connor of Porcupine, Bryant and Nicole O’Connor of Jonquiere, Quebec, Michael O’Connor of Port Franks and Richard and Suzanna Ridley of London. Also survived by 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Pam Duff of Montreal, Frank and Olga O’Connor of Kirkland Lake, Peter and Gloria O’Connor of Wasaga Beach, Mary Helen Ferguson of Kirkland Lake, Ann Catherine and Wayne Hartling of Barrie, Louise O’Connor of Toronto and Ted and Joan Dew of Brockville. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his wife Audrey Dew (1985), daughter-in-law Marlene O’Connor and a brother Ralph O’Connor. Jack was a veteran of W.W. II and served with distinction in England, Central Mediterranean and Continental Europe from April 1942 – June 1945, he also enjoyed speaking at schools about the importance of Remembrance Day. Jack was a life member of the Royal Canadian Legion, the Masonic Lodge and was a 33rd Degree Mason. Friends may call at the Hopper Hockey Funeral Home, 370 William Street, 1 west of Main, Exeter (1-877-235-1220) on Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Mount Carmel on Wednesday July 9th at 11AM with Father Callistus St. Louis presiding. Interment Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cemetery. Donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family. There will be a Legion Service in the funeral home Tuesday evening at 7 PM with Hensall Legion #468.
