It is with heavy hearts and sadness the family announces the sudden passing on Friday, March 13, 2015 of Shawn McCurdy of Mt. Brydges and formerly of Centralia. Loving husband of Kerri (Smith) McCurdy. Beloved and thoughtful father of Braenna, Hadleigh and Cooper. Dear son of Marion McCurdy of Centralia and the late Donald McCurdy (2013). Special brother of Nancy (Dean) Campbell of Cambridge, Barbara McCurdy of London, Sandra Oosterink of Woodstock. Shawn was an awesome uncle to Dani, Cole, April, Will, Kaitlyn, Chelsea, and Shayna. He will be sadly missed by the Smith, Hagarty and Fletcher Families as well as his cousins. Shawn will be remembered for his passion for woodworking and his family.
Friends may call at the Haskett Funeral Home, 370 William Street, (one west of Main) Exeter, on Tuesday, March 17, 2015 from 2-4 and 7-9PM. A private family service will take place on Wednesday. Interment Roy’s Cemetery.
Donations to a trust fund for Braenna, Hadleigh and Cooper (accepted at the funeral home) or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
McCURDY: Shawn Cooper of Mt. Brydges and formerly of Centralia

Dear Kerri…….. You are a strong amazing woman. Mature beyond your years and you will be ok! I first met you at the Mt. Brydges early years when our kids were babies and although I knew you were much younger than I, your confidence and maturity were to be admired. I knew you could handle life. It’s hard to believe our oldest children are both 9 now! Eric asks me all the time if Braenna’s dad had asked God into his heart. Shawn was an amazing man! You are an amazing woman and mother!
Please reach out to those who are offering to help you in any way. You deserve it.
We are here if you need anything. Eric is always looking for someone to come over and play. lol

Nancy, Dean, Marion and family,
I will never forget the day, sitting on the grass outside South Huron High, when Nancy found out Shawn was on his way. I know he brought a lot of light and love into the family in only the way a little brother can. I know, from personal experience, that he had one of the most gracious and kindest of women as his Mom. I know he had a sister who shared the same. Our hearts are with you and all who found their way into the circle of Shawn’s life.

Our hearts grow a new chamber for every person we love. The more love we give, the bigger the chamber. A loss like this must feel like a heart-attack; a damaged muscle, and noone expects a heart to heal from such a shock. The hurt though, means that is worth it, and no greater reminder is there, than when you look around at your children, for they are your physiotherapy to this injury. Love your family and friends like it is an exercise routine, with commitment and effort and repitition, and even though it won’t ever feel the same as it was, it will only get better with the strength you will earn by doing so.
You know very well that you have love all around you, and everyone is chomping at the bit to want to help you, but don’t always know how. We hope you’ll let them, even if you don’t think you need it. We hope your entire family the will to grow and be strong through this.
