Bill was a kind, and caring man, with a terrific sense of humour.
I used to tell him that he was my cousin through marriage i.e. cousin-in-law. On many occasions Bill would call and ask us why we hadn’t been up for a visit….”why it has been four months and three days. You know, we always have a bed here for you. I don’t know why you are avoiding Esther, and I.” Bill was a consummate kidder, but always in a kindly way toward others.
We looked forward to those days when we could come up to Corbett, and visit the barn with him, and Esther, as he would give us a rambling account as to why we needed a dog, and that he knew where we could get one at a reasonable price.
Diane and I will miss those summer days when we could sit on the verandah with him, and wile away the hours in contemplation about the crops, and who he thought I could be related to. I realized, then, that I had more relatives than I had bargained for!
We talked often about Christian things, and the rich heritage that we have in Christ, and because of this assurance, I know that we will meet again.
