Peacefully, at Queensway Nursing Home, Hensall, Margaret Jean Christine (Becker) Deichert, formerly of R.R. 1 Zurich, passed away on May 10, 2013 in her 82nd year. Beloved wife of Claire Deichert of R. R. 1 Zurich. Dear mother of Marg Deichert of Zurich, (Mary) Anne and Carl Weller of Stratford and Jen and Rob Schellenberger of Shipka. Loving grandmother of Brad Holmes, Hannah and Erica Weller, Mitchell, Kirsten and Dylan Schellenberger. Dear sister and sister-in-law of Bill and Nancy Becker, Elaine and Howard Datars, Barb Bucholtz, Eleanor Webb, Jim and Diane Becker, Carol Irwin, Bob and Bonnie Becker, Iris and Mike Gravel, Chuck and Nancy Becker, John and Mary Becker, Randy and Marion Becker, Marty and Julie Becker, Earl and Phylis Deichert, Dorothy Elligsen, Margaret Deichert and Edward and Elaine Deichert. Fondly remembered by her many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Valentine and Verna (Oke) Becker, brothers-in-law Les Bucholtz, Peter Irwin, Edgar Elligsen, and sisters-in-law Edith (Harvey) Hohner, Laura (Cliff) Pepper and Helma Deichert. Margaret taught elementary school for the Huron County School Board for over 35 years. She was very active in her community including being secretary-treasurer for the Zurich Agriculture Society for many years and a long time member of St. Peter’s ELW.
Visitation in the J. M. McBeath Funeral Home, 49 Goshen St. N, Zurich on Monday from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be conducted at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Zurich on Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at 11 a.m.. Pastor Nadine Schroeder Kranz officiating. Interment St. Peter’s Lutheran Cemetery.
In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Diabetes Association, St. Peter’s Lutheran Church (the Steeple Fund) or a charity of ones choice.
