Peacefully, at Bluewater Rest Home, Zurich, on Sunday, January 4, 2009, Seleda Steckle (Shantz), of Zurich, passed away in her 101st year. She was predeceased by her husband Dan, a granddaughter, Connie Steckle and a son-in-law Colin Henderson. She is survived and lovingly remembered by her family, Bill and Betty Steckle (Varna), Paul and Kathy Steckle (Zurich), Esther Steckle (Bedford, Ohio), Ferne and Lloyd Mumaw (Dalton, Ohio), Jim and Carolyn Steckle (Petersburg), Mary Steckle and Gary Forshay (Halifax, N.S.) as well as 8 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Also survived by sisters-in-law Vera Shantz and Lillian Steckle, and brother-in-law Oliver Steckle and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents Norman and Elmina (Weber) Shantz, siblings Sylvia Shantz, Mahlon and Mary Shantz, Orval and Helen Shantz, Elam Shantz, sisters -in-law and brothers-in-law Simon Steckle, Menno and Philippa Steckle, , Magdalena and Noah Gingerich, Allan and Mary Steckle, Hannah and John Smith, Celinda and Enos Martin, Rebecca Steckle, Mary and Joseph Martin, Gertie Steckle and Asa Steckle .
Visitation in the J. M. McBeath Funeral Home, 49 Goshen N, Zurich on Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at 11 a.m. in Zurich Mennonite Church, Zurich. Pastor Phil Wagler officiating. Interment Zurich Mennonite Cemetery.
