At LHSC – University Hospital on November 1st, 2023 at the age of 76. Beloved husband of Judy (Pennington) Alce for 52 years. Much loved dad of Mike and Jacqueline Alce of Granton, Luke and Jocelyn Alce of Corunna. Proud “Pops” of Marley, Madelyn, Maggie, and Elizabeth. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Tim and Carole Alce of Clinton, Pete Alce of Alberta, Jim and Deborah Alce of Mount Brydges, Jacqueline and Lowell Penner of London, Joanne Harrison of Goderich and Georgina Murphy of London. Predeceased by brothers-in-law Bill and Jim Pennington and sister in-law Sharon Alce.
He will be sadly missed by his many nieces and nephews, extended family and all of his friends.
Dan enjoyed life on the open road, chatting with one and all, spending time in the north and, above all else, time spent with his family.
Visitation will be held at Haskett Funeral Home, 223 Main Street, LUCAN on Saturday, November 18th from 9:30-10:30 AM where a memorial service will be held at 11 AM with Val Hodgins officiating. Cremation with a family graveside service at Granton Cemetery.
If desired, donations to either the Heart and Stroke Foundation, The Tanner Steffler Foundation or the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
We are always willing to go where called upon but this image shows a visual of the communities that our included in our initial transportation fee. We offer a 40km radius from any of our 5 locations (Arva (London), Exeter, Lucan, Seaforth, and Zurich). Any mileage beyond the included 40km will be charged a rate of $2.50/km (one way travel only).

Judy we are so sorry to hear of Dan’s passing. As I was reading all the condolences above Ron and I were remembering our times with both of you. You and I met because of my being sure I would never be good enough to play Scrabble at Hillcrest. But you kept encouraging me to go back and try again and at your urging I did and am still playing it there! I met Dan in the Christmas golf parade as he jumped off his cart and gave me a big hug. Surprised I said “Who are you?” He gave me a piece of candy, jumped back on his cart, and said “Santa Claus”. He was dressed in a Santa suit.🤔 After he left Ron told me who he was. He and Ron were good friends and had many good adventures on the early morning fishing trips! Ron also enjoyed his just stopping by our porch for neighborly visits. Dan always made a person feel at ease. Then our other memory was our canoe trip with you folk, Ruth and Ed Kitchen and us. Good memories! Will pray for strength and comfort for you in the coming days.
