It is with heavy hearts, we the family of Donald W. Allen announce his peaceful passing on February 26th, in his 97th year; born on December 3rd, 1918 to Edward and Florence Allen of McGillivray Township. Loving husband of the late Margaret Mary (Gooding) Allen (1984); survived by his children Darlene and Donald Smith of Barrie, Donald Jr and Alma Allen of Ballymote, Diane and Lionel Bryan of London and Harley and Cathy Allen of Barrie. Dear brother of Ronald Allen of Denfield. Don will be missed by his thirteen grandchildren. Predeceased by his granddaughter Cheryl Lynn (1997). Loving great grandfather of twenty-seven, and great great grandfather of Danica. He was predeceased by his sisters Sarah (2011), Irene (1989), brothers Lawrence (1988) and Dolph Allen (2014), and by his dear friend and companion Anne Duncan. Dad farmed for many years, also employed at Loeb’s, London, retiring at the age of 65. Dad was a hard working man and his love for antique furniture kept him busy stripping furniture until the age of 87. Dad travelled to the U.S., Canada, Caribbean and Central American. The family wishes to extend thanks and gratitude to all the staff of Craigwiel Gardens Nursing Home who cared for Dad so well throughout the past six years. It is because of their love and caring that Dad felt at home.

I was sorry to hear of your Father’s passing. We lost track of him after living in Lucan and was surprised to learn that he was as close as Ailsa Craig, or we would have let him know when Mother (Olive Romphf) passed away ~ Jan. 02, 2009. I don’t know if you were old enough to remember, but we were neighbours when we were kids and went to #12 McGillivray. I have school pictures with some of you in them, if you ever want to get together to see them, let me/us know. You Dad & Mother were good neighbours. With sincere condolenses.

We are very sad to hear of Dons passing. Don sat across from Donna at the dinner table for a few months and we always felt joy to see his smile.
