Alma Matilda Etherington, at the Exeter Villa, Exeter, on Sunday, August 15, 2004 in her 91st year. Predeceased in 2000 by Archie, her husband of 65 years. Survived by her three sons, Jim and his wife Liz of London, Bill and his wife Barbara of Toronto and John and his wife Sylvia of Calgary. Predeceased by her daughter Bernice in 1941. Also survived by six grandchildren David (Sue) of St. Catharines, Timothy (An) of Peterborough, Jill (Matt) Tennant of Edmonton, Michael of Toronto, Samantha (Dave) and Joshua (Audrey) both of Calgary, and one great-grand daughter Lydia Jane Etherington. Alma was born in Belmore, Huron County, daughter of the late William and Jemima Abram. One of 13 children she is survived by her brothers Robert, of Phoenix, Arizona, William, of London and Stephen of Victoria, and one sister, Mary Abram, of London. Alma and Archie farmed side by side in Usborne Township for 45 years, eventually retiring to Exeter in 1990. She was a faithful member for many years of the United Church Women at Thames Road/Elimville United Church, the Hurondale Women’s Institute and the Order of the Eastern Star, Exeter Chapter. Friends may call at the Hopper Hockey Funeral Home, 370 William Street, 1 block west of Main, Exeter, on Wednesday, August 18, 7-9 p.m. and 1-2 p.m. Thursday, August 19th where the funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. with Rev. Paul Ross officiating. Interment Exeter Cemetery. Donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family. There will be an Eastern Star Service in the funeral home Wednesday evening at 6:30 p.m.
