I spent many days playing at the farm when my dad (Adrian Wammes) helped John on the farm. My fondest memory of Truus was her amazing cooking and those crème puffs. Oh my!

My sincerest sympathy to the Boon family. I don’t think you will remember me or even know me .However I was just a boy 15 or 16 yrs, of age when I first met John and then your mother Thruus. John had just come to Canada and was working for Ken Etue on a farm south of Bayfield He facinated me with stories of his experiences when a boy in Holland during the 2nd WW (we lived across the road)I believe your mother joined him later … and at about that time….. he began to work for my step father Mozart Gelinas on the Snowdon farms. They lived in a little house on Hwy 21 next to the Etue’s. Theo was born then. It was not a easy time for Truss….without family or friends nearby. My mother also having babies then…. sympathized …..and befriended her. Time passed …we all moved on .I don’t believe I ever met either again. I did hear of John’s passing and that Truus lived in Exeter and had always hoped I would “run into her” …….but….never did. Seeing the pictures of John and Truus brought back lots of positive memories. They have enriched Canada with themselves and their decendants…. May they rest in peace. Sincerely Jerome Sweeney
