At home on, Tuesday, April 5, 2016 of Zurich, Ontario at age 68. Loved husband of Nancy (Egan) for 40 years. Dear father of Becky, Bobbi, Jessie and Brad (Julie). Fun, loving Grandpa and Papa to Kurtis, Clare, Ryan, Hayley, Alexander, Logan, Brody, Will and Macy Jean Arlene. Loved brother of Bill and Sylvia Brown of Huntsville, Betty and Bob Kirk of Zurich and Brenda and Terry Laliberte of Port Elgin. Respected and loved Uncle of many nieces and nephews and their families. Predeceased by his parents Jesse and Arlene Brown. Special thanks to Meagan Ingram, Annie Morris N.P., and Dr. Mark Nelham for Bob’s care at home. Brownie played hockey with the Zurich Has-Beans for some 30 years and made many good friends along the way. His highlight was the trip to Zurich Switzerland in 1986, so many great memories. He will also be remembered by his golfing pals. He was a true fan of the Red Wings and Blue Jays. Bob retired four years ago as the Canadian Director of the Sheet Metal Workers’ & Roofers International Association. He recently received his 50 year pin. His passion was always that the young people serving an apprenticeship in the trade be treated with respect and receive a fair wage as they progressed through their time. Bob met each day as a challenge to accomplish something, big or small! “God Bless the Working Man”.
Friends may call at the Haskett Funeral Home, 49 Goshen Street North, Zurich on Sunday, April 10th 2-4 and 7-9 PM, where a memorial service will be held on Monday, April 11th at 11 AM with Rev. Lyn Fisher officiating. Cremation with inurnment Exeter Cemetery.

We send our deepest condolence to you and your family as you deal with the loss of Bob. Through life we get opportunities to meet many people but only a few stand out as someone we wish to emulate. Bob was such a man for so many people. His positive attitude (that smile) and endless drive to stand up for the working person has always set the standard for union leaders. As a new Business Manager at one of my first meetings with Bob told me that the key thing to remember was to always leave things better than you found them. I have always carried those words with me in everything I do. Bob will always be remember as a man who not only the left union better than he found it but also the lives of those people he touch. We will always hold his memory in fondest regard.

Our thoughts were with you many times upon hearing how ill Bob had become. Please accept our deepest sympathy on the news of his passing. It seemed it was easy for Bob to smile and the many pictures showed it was the widest when surrounded by his family. Likely the only time it turned to a scowl of any kind was when the opposition crossed the blueline into the Hasbeans defensive end and it was game on. He was a terrific guy who I was glad to have known and be able to call a friend. He will be forever missed by those who had the good fortune to know him

My Dearest Nancy and Family…..
The news of Bob’s passing has left myself and so many others feeling not just sad, but empty….
A person like Bob is one that will be noticeably absent in this world… A man who loved so greatly…. gave so freely…. laughed so heartily… what you see is what you got – and that was all kindness, humour, the best sarcasm (he always gave me a run for my money!); and many friendships beyond anyone’s grasp…
The soft gentle side of Bob, not all got to witness yet we all knew it existed… His unending need to help; guide; teach; mentor; and lead….and the joy he had in doing this and so much more was evident….
Please allow the knowledge of how many lives he touched bring you warmth and some comfort for no one can even say they understand or know what you are all feeling – but we can only imagine your feeling of loss and sorrow is immeasurable – Just knowing that great smile of his and his comic relief is no longer here to experience saddens many….
You are a wonderful, beautiful and strong family – and will continue to lean on each other to carry on – day by day; hour by hour; minute by minute…. Bob’s legacy is all before you in those beautiful grandbabies and in each other… please remember that your family, friends, and community share in your sadness and hold you close in thoughts and prayers….
I loved MR BROWN – and I love you all as well xoxo “ROSIE”
Please also note that Jeff (Skully) sadly sends his condolences as well… he works away from his home 2 weeks out of the month, so he will not be here to see you personally… I can speak on his behalf as I know for certain that this news will darken his heart as it has mine and many others… I know you are all in his thoughts and prayers as well xo
