It takes a minute to find a special person, an hour to appreciate them, and a day to love them, but it takes an entire lifetime to forget them. (Author unknown)

Dear Holly and family. On behalf of the Forth family I offer our sincere condolences for your loss of Wes. The Brown’s were an important part of our family’s lives over the years and in many ways. I’ll recount a few here. We moved into the Berkshire Village area on Topping Lane in the summer of 71 and if I recall correctly the Brown’s had also just moved there from Oakville. Julia and my sister Renee became close friends and still are today. My brother Mike hung out with Scott and Wes and I became best friends. We had so much fun in those days, there was lots to do and we made the most of our time and adventures. Wes and I went to Westminster SS and he was building a cedar strip canoe in woodworking class. You all likely know the story, but one day as he was making the cedar strips he decided to add some of his right index finger. He was suddenly thrust into the spotlight for not fainting but guys around him did. He was also an athlete, playing lacrosse competitively. One game he caught a fastball with his nose and I still remember the amazing colours his face became as he healed. Wes and I also started our first jobs together as clean-up crew for the Berkshire Clubhouse early on Saturday and Sunday mornings after the late night parties that were there for weddings. Those were skills we both used our whole lives. With the money we earned we’d by our own clothes, often at The Fig Leaf on Dundas Street. I bought bell bottoms but Wes went his own way and bought Lee Jeans when everyone else was buying Levi’s. That always gave me a laugh. We made other friends and with one buddy in particular we became a Berkshire version of the Stand By Me gang in that movie. That was Mike Dodge. We lived at the pool in summers and hung out in Mike’s rec room in the winters listening to tunes. Wes and I went to at least 3 or 4 BTO concerts over the years. And Wes introduced me to In-a-godda-da-vida, by Iron Butterfly, then Bowie’s ‘Spiders From Mars’ and Queen. We lost touch in my 20’s and reconnected again when my Dad was sick. Wes and my Dad had become good friends because they were both working at UWO. I have always appreciated his efforts to stay in touch with Dad. As many have said here already, Wes was an awesome man, a solid and dedicated father and friend, and most importantly an excellent husband. I am deeply sorry for your loss and pray for healing your broken hearts.

Holly, My thoughts are with you at this difficult time. Wes was a wonderful father and accepted Joshua into his family as one of his own. We needed a trailer and he not only said yes but took it to the camp and set it up for us to use. He went above and beyond, but I’m sure he also threw a line in the water that day.
