January 20, 1918 – March 27, 2020
Passed away peacefully at Craigwiel Gardens, Ailsa Craig. Marnie Burchall (Wilson) was predeceased by her beloved husband George (1978) and sister Elizabeth (Betty) MacDonald (1970). She is survived by her sister Eugenia (Gene) Pincombe. She was a wonderful Aunt to many nieces and nephews who will miss her forever.
Marnie lived on a farm in Ilderton from 1960 to 2018. She was a unifying force in her family and hosted countless Christmas get togethers, corn roasts, and family gatherings. As well as working on the farm, she worked for the Federal Government for over 30 years where she received a number of awards for her innovative ideas. In her spare time, she cared for hundreds of stray cats over the years, acted in plays at the Grand Theatre, was an avid theatre goer, delivered Meals on Wheels, volunteered on the Ilderton Fair Board and made the best chili sauce ever. She travelled the world, north to Arctic Canada, south to New Zealand, east to China and west to Vancouver Island. Marnie never said a bad word about anyone and never complained.
The family would like to express their thanks and gratitude to the staff at Craigwiel Gardens and Dr. Whynot who cared for Marnie with kindness and compassion in the final months of her life.

Those we love don,t go away
They walk with us everyday
Unseen, unheard but very near,
Still missed, still love and very dear.
Marnie was a dear friend and a faithful customer.

So many good memories. Many visits to the farm with her husband George, (who was my dads best friend). I learned to drive a tractor there, hid in the barn, swam in the pond and “helped” Uncle George and dad(Bert Ellis) with the pigs.
Food folks and fun. She was a city gal that took to country life with ease and sophistication. Very sad to learn of her passing. I was able to visit briefly last Fall with her. Our condolences to Gene and the entire family.

I only knew Marnie a short time. I work from Home Instead Senior Care and spent afternoons at the farm in her big house. We would have tea and goodies, sit and chat about her life and what was growing in her garden(peonies and lilacs). Lovely lady .
She lived a wonderful life and am sorry for the families loss.

I have fond memories of my great aunt Marnie from the time she first visited my grandmother and family in 1964 with my great uncle George and we had a family party with all the great uncle s aunt s and family at that time. She subsequently made other visits back to see us all in England the last with her sister Gene. She was a lovely lady and she had a long and happy life. She will never be forgotten. Bob and Janet.

Sending sincerest condolences to the family. My first pet when I moved into my own place in the 1980’s was a cat from her farm.

My mom and Marnie worked together for years with the Federal Government. My mom loved to reminisce about the many laughs that she and Marnie shared together, both as co-workers and long-time friends, On behalf of my mom, my condolences to Marnie’s family for their loss of an impressive lady.

We all loved Aunt Marnie. Growing up as kids she was always very kind and considerate. Always went to Family functions and loved her food. Always saw her at the Ilderton fair. She never missed a birthday card. A very amazing woman.
Will be fondly and sadly missed.

We traced the long lost Canadian arm of the Burchall family some years ago and were very pleased to have met up with Marnie and some of her close family in Canada and the UK. We hope her family and friends find comfort in each other and all the happy memories they share.

Marnie and our mother, Edith Hodgins Kennedy shared many travel experiences. Travel companions are not always easy to find and our mother and Marnie shared common travel interests and compatibility. Marnie and Mom visited me, Marg, at my new home in Warkworth and insisted on planting about 100 tulip bulbs so that the next Spring I would have a colourful garden at their hand. Marnie was a lady who was loved dearly as a special friend and travel companion of our mother. Condolences to Marnie’s family from Jean Bray and Margaret Mason.
