After a courageous and hard fought battle, Marissa passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on Wednesday, August 4, 2021, at the age of 28. Cherished wife and best friend of Steve Cesarone for over 10 years. Proud dog momma of Dougie. Much loved daughter of Ken and Charlene (Stewart) Carruthers. Loving sister of Tara and Andrew Ward, and Chad and MacKenna Carruthers. Aunt Missy of Decklan, Rylyn, Marshall, and Lawson. Adored granddaughter of Irene Carruthers and the late Earl Carruthers, and the late Art and Frieda Stewart. Dear daughter-in-law of Lino and Cindy Cesarone. Marissa was loved dearly and will be missed by her many close friends.
Marissa and Steve were inseparable for more than a decade. They both loved the summertime and the warm weather for adventures like boating on Lake Huron, late night campfires with whiskey glasses in hand, and time spent outside with Doug the Pug. They loved to travel, and when it wasn’t warm at home, they headed south for the heat, the water, and the sunsets. Their greatest trip was to Curaçao with both sets of parents, where Steve surprised everyone by proposing to Marissa. Their very best day together – July 10, 2021, was the day they tied the knot. Marissa and Steve had waited for what seemed like forever, but it was a dream-come-true for her to walk down the aisle to her beloved partner.
A private family graveside service will be held at Telfer Cemetery on Saturday, August 7th at 3 PM. Though the service is private, the family invites you to join with them from the comfort of your home. Stream the service live or at your convenience by visiting www.facebook.com/haskettfh
Donations to LHSF – Regional Cancer Program would be appreciated by the family.

Dear Steve and family, I am so sad to hear of this news and terribly sorry for your loss. I had the pleasure of working with Marissa at Crest about five years ago when I was new at the location that she worked at during that time. I simply remember her as a kind, down to earth, and confident woman with a great sense of humour and I really enjoyed working with her. I haven’t seen her since our time working together, but I am so happy to know that she fell in love young and got to spend the rest of her years with her best friend and married him. She has positively touched many lives of people that she supported at Crest Support Services and will be fondly remembered by them and her coworkers.
