Lori and I are so thankful for our visit with you in June. Vite’s strength and determination had me convinced he was invincible. Even with the inevitable nearing I was still shocked when I heard the news.
It was our passion of the outdoors, archery, and whitetails that ultimately lead to our chance rendezvous on November 11, 2002. After an evening sit in one of his tree stands we enjoyed soup and sandwich at the local Tim Hortons – an evening I will never forget. Our friendship grew, and joined by Jeff Dano a tradition continued for 13 years.
“One more Hunt” we would say each year as we departed the Cabin.
Vite faught hard to live his life to the fullest. I am a better person for knowing him.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and the family

This has been very hard for me to express with words but here goes. I first met Vite when I started at Dominion at Westmount Mall in 1972, he was the frozen food guy and shortly after we became friends. In 1973 Vite married Connie and in 1974 I married Laura. I remember going tenting with them and woke up to snow on the ground. We would watch Friday night movies that none saw the end of. Vite in later years had a brain tumour that he recovered from with a thirst for knowledge , he read books and taught himself plumbing, electrical and woodworking. Everything he did had to be perfect and so it was. Great movies, bowling , campfires cabin and get togethers, our friendship lasted 43 years and that alone is amazing. Vite was not only a perfectionist but a fighter in all the years with cancer.Vite will be missed but we are looking forward to spending many more years with Connie.

Dear Connie and family,
Please accept my condolences of support as you grieve the loss of Vite who was loved by many.
Although death is a part of all our lives, part of nature and a fact of life it is never easy to let go of those we love and hold as dearly as I know you did him.
One great spiritual teacher was Buddha who taught the principles of the Four Noble Truths. The first of which is the Truth of Suffering. This was taught within the context of three characteristics of existence, the first being impermanence. The subtle aspect of impermanence is the transitory nature of existence. The difficult task and challenge for all of us is to accept the fact that nothing in life is permanent…..we all continue to journey on and ever expand….
Know that Vite and his essence are on a new journey no longer confined to a physical body and no longer suffering. His spirit will always be in your hearts and always present.
I hope the following poem provides you and your family some comfort:
Loved ones, death is nothing at all,
I’ve slipped only into the next room
I am I, and you are you
Whatever we were to each other that we are still
Loving you always…
With sincere sympathy, love and support.

Connie , Cara and Rob, It’ s an impossible task to try to put into words the sadness we feel to know that Vite has passed. Our grief can only be tempered by knowing that he;s at rest with no more struggles and trials to face. We were blessed to share his friendship for over thirty years and enjoy so many experiences together. We speak regularly of the summer you visited us here in Saskatchewan and Vite was so excited about trapping the pocket gophers. And how he thought that was the hardest bed he had ever slept on. Everytime I make dill pickles or canned Saskatoon berries I think of him His sense of humour and teasing at birthday and Christmas gatherings are treasured memories. A strong man dedicated to the family he loved above all else. We will miss you

Rick & Susan, Jeff & Stephenie & Chris Muir say:
Our thoughts are with you all
Vite was such an inspiration to us.
Over the 45 years of our friendship we did so many things together.
From Wednesday night cheese trials on the Dominion night crew.
Camping at Ben Miller, a trip to the French River, and many fun weekends at the cabin with Jeff & Chris.
Those year when I was laid off, working along side of him on the chairs, helped me ten-fold more than I helped him.
THE CABIN!
He and I would work together on his projects, sharing “how to” & “what if’s”. You know what a perfectionist he was.
I use to kid him,”if you wanted this thing out of solid wood ,why not go find a big enough tree and hollow it out!”
The last few years have meant so very much to me. In the times of fading health he gave me his trust. The fact that he thought enough of my skills to work side by side on the addition. That trust meant so much!
We will miss our friends but will never forget their friendships
Vite will always be our friend

Vite’s determination to live life to it’s fullest with such strength, through all the setbacks endured, was a great inspiration to us. We so enjoyed our time together, much of it spent exploring the wilderness he loved. Although distance made it hard to get together, he was always just a phone call away. We’ll miss him but take comfort in knowing he’s no longer suffering and finally at rest. When we see our hostas, transplanted from his garden, we’ll remember our time together and how he could always brighten our day and make us smile.
Our deepest condolences to Connie, Cara and family.

Dear Connie and Family
It is with great sadness that I respond to the news of Vite’s passing. First of all I want to express how truly sorry I am and want you to know I am sharing in your grief.
It is times like this when I have a flood of memories of the many years of Vite’s friendship….from moose hunting in Nakina, deer hunting at the cabin, having a few drinks, rehashing hunts of the past, eating apple pie & of course joking & laughing….great memories that will last a life time.
It’s hard to believe his long hard fought battle is finally over but as you put it his suffering has finally ended. When I tell people about Vite I describe him as a small man (in stature) but a goliath of man when it’s comes to will & determination. I’ve always been impressed by his inner strength & will to fight through his cancer…..climbing into a tree stand until the bitter end!
I feel blessed to have met Vite & share a part of my life with him and I know the memories of our shared experiences will continue to be with me whenever I’m out deer hunting or sitting in a tree stand.
He will be missed but not forgotten.
Please accept my sincere condolences
Sincerely
Jeff Dano
