Life Story for Francois Dieleman
BRIEF HISTORY
Francois Abraham Dieleman was born on September 5, 1913 in Heinkenzand, Zeeland, Netherlands to Martinus and Cornelia Geertruida Dieleman. He went to school in Heinkenzand and later on took courses in Agriculture in Goes. Frans married Machelina (Lien) Martina Koeman on April 1, 1937 and took over his father’s farm in Heinkenzand. Their eldest daughter, Corrie, was born here.
In 1940 the family moved to Wolphaartsdyk. Three children were born to them during the war years. Kees was born in 1942 and Martin and Joanne (twins) were born in 1942.
In 1946 the family moved back to Heinkenzand. This time to a different farm. Maria was born in 1948 and Joe in 1949.
In 1955 the family immigrated to Canada. Their first home was a house for Dutch immigrants in Grimsby. From there they moved to Apin where Frans worked in a factory. In 1957 he bought his first farm in Canada near Parkhill. In 1964 he sold this farm and bought another near Dashwood. This farm was sold in 1970.
Upon leaving their farm near Dashwood, Frans and Lien moved to a house in Huron Park and later on, in 1980, to Hensall. It was in Hensall that Frans spent his time doing what he enjoyed: looking after a large and beautiful garden growing vegetables, herbs, and flowers as well as various fruit trees.
Not long after moving to Hensall, Lien was diagnosed as having Alzheimer. Frans looked after her at home until she went to be with the Lord in November 1994.
Frans had 6 children, 21 grandchildren, 57 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. He kept a list of names and birth dates on a a sheet of paper hanging on a wall.
Frans loved the Lord. One of his most favorite activities was reading the Bible. He was looking forward to the return of the Lord. He once told family members that he was reborn in September 1931.
In addition to studying the Bible Frans was an avid reader and was a life-long student of plants, especially herbs.
The last number of years Frans lived with his daughter, Joanne. At first he was quite independent but during the last three years needed a lot of personal attention. Joanne, a trained nurse, provided him with excellent professional and loving care.
Frans went to be with the Lord on January 22 2011. He was 97 years old (almost a century). His time on earth has come to an end; his time to be with his Lord and Saviour in heaven has just begun.
