Linda Russell
Jim & family,
I wish to pass on this poem that Dorothy penned for our (Exeter United Church) Visitation Team which she affectionately called “Earth Angels”. She was a member, visiting for over 10 years, at South Huron Hospital. It is a reflection of her life as well.
Earth Angels by Dorothy Chapman
Light cascading down turning ‘Rainbow colours’,
May we be Earth Angels to carry light to others,
That a sad child, lonely elder or despairing youth may feel,
That our love, light & caring are genuinely real.
May our outer words & action & attitude shine,
With the inner peace, love & caring of our light divine.
Light cascading down turning ‘Rainbow colours,
As we pass along God’s gift of light & love to others.
May this bring comfort as she is now one of Heaven’s angels.

Dear Jim…..Am so sorry to hear of Dorothy’s passing. She has been such a great friend and leader with our women’s group in..Florida..She had that gift of understanding others &really sharing her faith in the “angels” who have touched many of us.
Both of you provided me with wonderful hospitality 2010- when you hosted some of us for two days at your lovely place.
I know she is united with hundreds of souls who she helped while
here on Earth. Prayers for you and your family and know that those angels are going to be with you..

Jim, Cheryl, Susan, Paul and Christopher:
It is with great sorrow that I write these words and with great appreciation to Dorothy and all of you for the two years that daughter Christine lived with you and under your guidance during her age of sixteen and seventeen, when her character was formed and she became the dedicated person who is now passing on the love and righteousness she learned from you to her children Isabelle and Hans Christian. With love, Paul and Libia.
Cal and June brockman
Dear Jim,
June and I were shocked at the suddenness of Dorothy’s passing. Her positive attitude toward the living of life was an inspiration to all who knew her. We don’t know what kind twist of fate brought us together as “Florida Neighbors” but we continue to recall with great affection the many kindnesses shown to us during our all too short years of our friendship. Please know we share your loss and please keep in touch.
Cal and June Brockman

Jackie & Jeff Blanchard
Jim and family,
We recently spent a lovely Spring morning visiting with you folks. We sat in the sunshine together enjoying the activities of the birds at the feeders and an elusive White Squirrel playing in the trees.Sue tried to entice the squirrels with a ready supply of peanutbutter and nuts, while Chris served High Tea and cookies. Dorothy basked in the rhthym of family life. Dorothy’s sense of humor and love of family was evident that morning. A great memory. We’ve heard stories about Dorothy’s fun-side; including bells on beds, and eyeballs in bathroom doors. A trait she playfully passed on to some of her children. You are blessed to have over 56 years of memories to share with each other as you remember and celebrate Dorothy’s earthly life. We share the sorrow of your loss and the joy found in the memories of a life well lived.
God Bless,
Jackie & Jeff

Dorothy will be remembered with affection and memories of so many good times including her hospitality – one that comes to mind immediately is laughing continuously on a boat ride, wanting to ‘shut out’ loud talking of an annoying passenger – thinking of Dorothy brings thoughts of love and caring. Condolences to Jim and all the family!

Having “been there and done that”, I know how much pain your hearts are feeling at the present time. Mine is with you. However, I can say with assurance that time is a great healer and “this, too, will pass”.
Not much consolation at the present time, I know, but I just wanted you to know you are not alone. I will forever regret that Dorothy and I had some “unfinished business” over such a silly thing as a beef heart but that is indicative of the many silly things we shared in life.
Dorothy was a great friend and supporter for me, as she was for many people, and she certainly made a big difference in many people’s lives–both personally and professionally.
God bless all of you in your loss.
