Irene and Mervin were our next door neighbors at Hurondale for many decades. Irene always showed a great interest in everyone in our community, especially the kids. I remember her fondly for her role in the entertainments nights at S.S.#1 Usborne, the bridal showers and the picnics. Whenever someone in the neighborhood was experiencing the loss of a loved one, it was often Irene who organized a floral tribute from each family on the Second, or some other caring act.
“Wave to Irene.” – this was we Sims kids instinct whenever we were outside facing north at the Dunn farm from our clothes line or from the toboggan hill. Goodbye dear neighbor, and rest knowing that you touched a lot of people with your kindness.

Irene was our neighbor on John street for years. She was such a good, kind lady. I used to occasionally sit on her porch with her and chat. Our condolences to her family.

Our sincere sympathy to Irene’s family. Irene and my Mom – Mary (Johns) Neil – were long-time friends. After my Mom passed away 17 years ago, Irene and I kept in touch by phone. She was a very caring person. It’s sad that we won’t be having those Sunday afternoon conversations any more.

Irene was a sweet little soul. I will miss our chats. My deepest sympathies to her family.

Irene was a gentle kind soul.
One of the sweetest ladies i ever had the chance to meet.
I will miss seeing her walk by my house on her way to church.

My sympathy to all of Irene’s family. She helped for many years, every week to fold the Sunday bulletins, any funeral bulletins and the newsletters. She was always one of the first to read the “news” in the bulletins. We had lots of laughs and she always wanted to help. Irene, having no children of her own always volunteered to look after little ones during the “Moms and Tots” program at the church. The little ones loved her. She would volunteer to bake cookies, muffins, cupcakes, etc. for snack time for the Vacation Bible School program. She will be remembered by many.
