At Alexandra Marine & General Hospital Goderich, Ontario on Saturday, September 7 of Zurich at the age of 68. Beloved wife, Schatzie & best friend of Bob Evans for 44 years. Loved mother of Cam and Kelly of Toronto and Brittney and Paolo Pacione of Mexico City. Cherished OMA of Kieran, Téa, Callan & Nika. Lovingly remembered by many family members and dear friends. Predeceased by her father & mother Harry and Alice Howarth. Survived by her brother Elmar Howarth, Toronto.
Foregoing her education, Eve helped her parents by spending the early working years of her life serving food & slinging beer at the Old Mill Restaurant & Tavern in Parkhill. All of her customers loved her. Following that and while being a devoted mother and wife, Eve worked part-time with Canada Post for over 25 years retiring in 2008. The German meaning of the name Evelyn is little bird, similar to the English meaning of beautiful bird. Another person once said of Evelyn: “Evelyn is a philosopher of the soul who yearns to pierce the mysteries of the human heart with reason and intuition! Endowed with charm and true powers of seduction, she always radiates extraordinary warmth!” Eve embodied this during all of her life. The family appreciates the exceptional care and compassion of the staff at the Maitland Manor in Goderich.
A Service and Celebration of Eve’s life will be held at the Zurich Community Centre, 15 East Street, Zurich on Saturday September 14th at 11 am. Visitation from 9:30 to 10:30 am. Fellowship, a light lunch and beverages to follow the celebration. Cremation has taken place. Haskett Funeral Home, Zurich entrusted with arrangements.
Donations to the St. Joseph’s Health Care Foundation (FTD research work of Dr. Elizabeth Finger at Parkwood Institute, London) would be appreciated by the family.

We were driving down the lake road the other day, now retired too, and we remarked that we really must reconnect again with Bob and Eve. We loved the short intense times of fun we had with you two. Sadly we can only get to see you again and hope to one day. Eve was a lovely person whose company we always enjoyed… we will cherish our last night at the King Eddy and recall the fun times years ago… Eve made a beautiful lasting impression that will never wear off. Our condolences in this sad time for you and your family.

Growing up in St. Joseph meant I grew up with many family members. For most of my childhood I thought of Bob and Eve as one of the many sets of grandparents I knew and loved. Eve was one of the most caring, fun, and lively people I have ever known. I will always cherish the time I spent running down the line of houses on Antoinette’s Lane and hiding under the giant pine tree in the front yard whenever I was up at the lake. I am so sorry for your loss and hope your family finds peace in this difficult time.
