Dear family and friends of “Susie” Faber. Teresa informed mom this afternoon about the death of Susie. She was saddened that due to her own illness she will not be able to attend the funeral. She wanted to us to convey her sympathy to the family. She talked at length about the gentle and ongoing support she received from Susie during her and dad’s first few years of immigrant life here in Canada.
When we were a little older and moved away from the area, it was always with happy anticipation when mom and dad loaded us into the car and would take the long drive to Kippen to visit Bert and Susie. Here we would crowd around the television set at the farmhouse on Saturday evening, to watch Shirley Temple’s Fables. I still recall one of the fables in black and white of course. Television hadn’t come to the Broekstra family home yet and so this was pretty exciting for us. But the best part was when Susie brought out the cookies and homemade tarts for us. We will look back fondly at those times with Susie and Bert Fabers. I regret we will not be able to attend the service, but our thoughts will be with you and your family.
Sincerely
Dorothy Broekstra and her children:
Bert, Shirley, Richard, Teresa and Margaret.

So sorry to hear about Aunt Susie. She was always so caring and kindhearted. I have many fond memories from my holidays with her and Uncle Bert on the farm (though it may not have been much of a holiday for them) and the memories always bring a smile. Not sure if I’m going to be able to make it on Friday but our thoughts are with you.
Love, Pat, Abu, Sarah & Maryam

Dear Carol and all relatives
I’m so sorry to hear of your loss. Susy was part of my Stanley Twp. life for twenty eight years and always had a smile and a word when we met at showers and so forth. I first knew her through Carol (nee McKee) Wishart who spent time at the Faber farm as a child. My husband Bev and I are actually going to see Carol and David Wishart today as we are part of a big reunion of friends up on Lake Simcoe. I am taking the obituary with me. Our thoughts will be with you on Friday.
With kindest regards, Jane Davidson
