At Extendicare, London, on Sunday, June 27, 2010 , of London and formerly of St. Thomas, in her 96th year. Beloved wife of the late Cecil Frederick Johns. Dear mother of Dennis Johns and his wife, Joanne Lubansky–Johns. Adoring, and forever adored, nana of Katy Flora Johns. Predeceased by five brothers and two sisters (all of whom lived well into their 90s), Flora was the last of her generation of the proud Regular clan.
During the Second World War, Flora became smitten with a dashing young naval officer who was stationed near her home in Harbour Grace, Newfoundland. Not only did he sweep her off her feet; he swept her “off the Rock” as well…all the way to Ontario. Flora and Cec settled in St. Thomas, Ontario where they celebrated 50 years of marriage together. In St. Thomas, Flora became a proud fifty-year member of both the Chancel Guild at Trinity Anglican Church and The Order of the Eastern Star, Central Star Chapter #57.
On Wednesday, June 30, Flora was laid to rest beside her beloved husband in a private family ceremony at Elmdale Cemetary in St. Thomas.
A service to celebrate Flora’s life will be held at St. Jude’s Anglican Church (located at the corner of Adelaide Street North and Fanshawe Park Road) on Monday, July 5th at 7PM with Rev. Phil Uptgrove officiating.
Donations to St. Jude’s Anglican Church or Trinity Anglican Church, St. Thomas would be appreciated.

Dennis,
I hope that this message does not come too late that you do not see it. I just learned tonight of your Mother’s passing.
Your parents were such wonderful people. And I know that they were my Mom and Dad’s favorite neighbors ever. I know my Mom dearly missed your Mom’s friendship after she moved away. My Mom and Dad and I spoke fondly of her tonight and we would like you to know that you are in our thoughts. Take care.
