With sadness we announce Isabel’s death at the Exeter Villa, on Tuesday, July 19, 2016, at the age of 88, formerly of Zurich and Grand Bend. Isabel was married to Allan Gascho (2012) for 64 years and they raised 4 daughters in Zurich; Linda Moran, Marilyn (John) Geiger, Carol (Brian) Belchamber, and Maura (Paul) Perna. They delighted in their 8 grandchildren; Andrew (Kelly), Steven (Jackie) Geiger, Eric (Sabrina), Adam Belchamber, Kirsten (Ed) Gillespie, Michael Moran, Julie (Cameron) Ross, and Daniel Perna. Isabel enjoyed photos and hearing the stories about her 11 great-grandchildren. Isabel was predeceased by her parents Archibald and Eva Purcell, and her siblings Margaret, Mildred, and Arthur. Isabel lived in Manitoba until age 7 when her family moved to Wardsville, ON. She joined the bank at age 16 and was transferred to Zurich where she met Allan. Isabel contributed to the community in many ways including as Brownie and Girl Guide Leader, Town Councillor, Youth Leader, Church Volunteer, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, sister, and Church Camp counsellor. She left her family a legacy of courage, determination, kindness, generosity, and unconditional love, and she will be missed by all who knew her. The family is thankful for the kind and respectful care by the staff at Exeter Villa.
Friends may call at the Haskett Funeral Home, 49 Goshen Street North, Zurich on Sunday afternoon 3:00-5:00 PM, and on Monday morning from 10:00-10:45 AM, where the funeral service will be held on Monday, July 25th at 11 AM with Pastor Nadine Schroeder-Kranz officiating. Interment Bluewater-Bronson Line Cemetery, Zurich.
In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Zurich would be appreciated by the family.

I was saddened to learn of Isabel’s passing – I will never forget her beautiful smile and fun-loving personality – always ready for a game of badminton or croquet with us “kids on the block”. Do you remember the time she piled half of the kids in the neighbourhood into the car and packed us all off to the theater in Exeter to see “Old Yeller”? Fond memories……
Condolences from a long ago neighbour….
