Hardy: Jack – At his home in Lucan, on Thursday, September 14, 2017 in his 96th year. Beloved husband of the late Helen (Brown) Hardy (June 2017). Dear father of Andy and Ann Hardy of Lucan, and Rob and Barb Hardy of Delaware. Dear grandfather of Amy; Erin, and Courtney; and great-grandfather of Jackson. Jack will be remembered by his siblings Lillian Knight of Kintore, Muriel Culbert of Lucan, Harry and Elaine Hardy of Strathroy, and Dorothy Revington of Lucan. Predeceased by his parents Frank and Violet Hardy, his mother and father-in-law Jamesina and Andrew Brown, siblings Wilmer and Mary Scott, Clarence and Beulah Hardy, Harold and Velma Hardy, and Norm and Lena Hardy, sister-in-law Jean Hardy, and brothers-in-law Jack Knight , Mert Culbert, and Leroy Revington.
Jack was an avid pigeon flyer who carried on his father’s love of racing homing pigeons. Standardbred horse racing was his passion and the many horses who were developed at his farm and went on to achieve success in Canada and the United States brought him both pride and joy. He was inducted into the Wall of Fame at The Raceway, Western Fair with his brother Norm in 2000. He loved the days of 3 generations of his family working together with the horses. Fishing and exploring nature were things he loved sharing with his sons and great-grandson. Jack’s integrity, love of life, pride in family and his ever present and delightful sense of humour touched all those around him and made every day brighter.
Cremation has taken place. There will be a private family interment at St. James Cemetery, Clandeboye.

So sad to hear of Uncle Jack’s passing, he will be truly missed by his extended family of sisters, brother, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. I really enjoyed my recent visits with Uncle Jack after the Hardy picnic and during my recent visit to Lucan. He shared some great memories with me of the race days, visiting Fairview farm and a particularly touching story of how he came about convincing my Dad to sell him Flash Fire C. I am proud of his accomplishments, continuous support in the community and on being inducted to the Wall of Fame at Western Fair . Family was always important to him and it was evident he really missed Aunt Helen.
