I am happy to say that no matter where I am or how old I am, I will always remember Mr. Heywood practicing his bagpipes in his backyard on a summer’s evening.
During the 1950s and 1960s my family lived just across the creek from the Heywoods. Our backyards sort of backed on to each other. They were good neighbours (and I hope we were too). And I know I speak for all my family when I say that summer wasn’t summer unless Mr. Heywood was out in his backyard practicing his bagpipes.
I am very sorry that Mr. Heywood has passed on, and I’ll always be grateful to him for the wonderful summer memory he gave me, my brothers and sisters and my mother.

So sorry for your loss….I know how close you two were and how much you loved each other. Some of my fondess and most clear childhood memories are of my summers spent with my cousins and the fun we had especially the treat of coke and potato chips on Saturday night….never got that at home! I remember Uncle Eric chewing his food…..each bite for minutes…..mesmerized me. LOL
So many memories that I will cherish of one of my favorite uncles!
