After a hard-fought battle, Terry passed peacefully at his home with his family at his side, on Monday, May 18, 2020 of Lucan at the age of 73. Loving husband of Jean (Smith) Hickson who together recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on September 20, 2019. Much loved father of Mark and Lori Hickson, and Wendy and Michael Daubs. Cherished and adored grandpa of Julia and Matthew. Also survived by Hannah Daubs. Beloved son of Wesley Hickson of Lucan and the late Nadine (Armitage) Hickson (1999). Dear brother and brother-in-law of Diane Rummell, Bob (Doc) Hickson, Jim and Cheryl Hickson, Linda Snider and Dave Gardner, Marilyn Carter, Pat and John Ward, Grace and Bob Lassaline, Janet Ankers, Dave and Linda Smith, Sheila and Brian Dinney, Doug and Noreen Smith, and Sherrie and Andy Ross. Terry will be fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, and friends. Predeceased by his sister Gayle Riley and brothers-in-law Don (Clancy) Riley and Brian Ankers.
There was nothing that Terry was unable to fix. He would always devote enough time and energy to ensure he would not be beat by the task at hand. Despite his obvious talents with anything mechanical it was clear to all that his greatest pride and love was his family.
A private family funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 21st at 11 AM. Though the service is private, the family invites you to join with them from the comfort of your own home. Stream the service live by visiting www.facebook.com/haskettfh. Cremation with interment St. James Cemetery, Clandeboye.
Donations to JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Fund) or the VON – Middlesex-Elgin would be appreciated by the family.

We are thinking of you all at this difficult time. We were lucky enough to get to know Terry over the last two years being his neighbor. The kids were always excited to see his smiling face at the crosswalk, he showed Richard how to get our boat ready for the season and we could always count on Terry having the end of our lane way blown out before we could even get to it in the winter.
Our deepest sympathy

Terry was like an uncle to me. I remember that once I went over there instead of asking my dad to fix my bike (because I knew he would do a better job). Here at the Haskett house it hasn’t been the same or ever will be because at Terrys corner there wont be a Terry.

We grew up across the street from each other, and with Doc, we grew up together.

I am so sorry for the loss of your Dad and Grandpa. Mark you’ve lost one of your best friends and mentor and that is so devastating. We are just a phone call away if ever you need us.
Wendy,Mike and Hannah
To lose a loved one is hard but Wendy to lose your Dad, it’s unimaginable. Know my thoughts are with you all at this difficult time.
Reading these tributes just goes to show you how much of a remarkable guy your Husband and Dad really was.
He always made time to catch up, to check in and share a story or a giggle.
I had the privilege of knowing Terry all my life-he was always there-from falling off bikes and helping you back up/or laughing at you for being foolish , to taking me with the boys, garage meetings when Terry and Dad would be working on cars and I was allowed to hang there too, to Hanging out on the back porch for a visit…Terry always made me feel welcome and loved and that I was never a bother.
He was in his glory back in the 1990’s when Mark was racing in Grand Bend and then to have been there the last few years to watch the three generations racing was something very special.
We always joked that Terry was my boyfriend and then once I had the girls I was replaced-it meant the world to me that he treated my girls like they were part of his family. Terry was the one to nickname Maggie and he always kept Tessa and Leah in line at the crossing guard. I think though, Jocelyn stole his heart when she would be hanging out at Mom and Dads when I went back to work.
Thank you Jean, Mark and Wendy and the rest of the family for sharing your Husband and dad with me-he will always have a very special place in my heart.
He loved you all so much and he was loved by so many. He will be missed that is for sure.
If you need anything please call us
We love you and send hugs to you all in the days and weeks ahead.

Terry, where do I begin. You were adored by the kids at your crosswalk. They loved hitting that sign, and you always, always said good morning to every child who crossed there. You were awesome to talk to every morning on my way back from the school,. Your advice about hockey and anything mechanical was always great, but mostly he would talk about how proud he was of his family and their achievments. When we would walk out the front door and the kids did not see Terry at the corner they would almost panic, I had one that almost refused to cross without Terry. Terry you made a big impact on so many lives young and old. The corner of George and Main will always be called TERRY’S CORNER. The kids and I will miss you immensely, and guess what I drive the jeep now and am still a Martin Truex fan.
