As I stated I would, I have made a donation in Vince’s memory to The Standardbred Retirement Foundation in New Jersey. My health is going downhill, so maybe I’ll meet up with Vince sooner than I had planned and he can introduce me to his wife, who he missed so much.

I met Vince in Delaware, Ohio, when he and his son came to stay at my Bed and Breakfast while the Little Brown Jug was on. After that day, Vince came again and again. He was a wonderful man. After I moved to Arizona, Vince and I kept in contact He told me how he and his wife had made plans many years ago on where they were going to go on vacations after he retired but his wife got ill and that never happened. We kept up-to-date on each other’s actions through cards and letters, telephone and email. He would send me a photo of his standing beside a tractor or a horse. I never forgot him on Christmas. The last time we talked, he was in London. He didn’t sound well, but I was hoping things could turn around for him. I sent him a letter and a package of photos of things all around Arizona and 2 pictures of The Delaware Manor Bed and Breakfast. I hope they had all gotten to him in time for him to see them. I will be making a donation to a standard bred rescue organization in his memory. He will be missed so-o much. Benjamin Franklin said, “A long life may not be good enough but a good life is long enough.” Bless his heart, he had them both!
