Passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at Jessica’s House on Wednesday, March 27, 2024 of Exeter, at the age of 69. Cherished and devoted wife of Raye Jacobe for over 39 years. Proud mom of Ryan and Lisa Jacobe. Adored Ma of Carson, Jade, and Maci. Dear sister and sister-in-law of Donald and Maureen Cole, and Sharon and Doug Kyle. Loving aunt of Wayne (Lindsay) Cole, the late Lawrence Cole, and Sarah Kyle. Dear daughter-in-law of Mary Jacobe. Predeceased by her parents Alvin and Margaret (Templeman) Cole, and father-in-law Laird Jacobe.
Jean enjoyed her many years in the bank, forming relationships with people in the community. Her beautiful voice was heard in different choirs over the years. Jean was always eager for Spring, so she could get out on the golf course for a round and walk through town and on the trails with her friend Linda. Together, she and Raye enjoyed dancing and playing cards. Above all, she cherished every moment she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Haskett Funeral Home, 456 Main Street South, EXETER on Tuesday, April 2nd from 6 – 8 PM, where Jean’s funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 3rd at 1 PM. Private family interment Exeter Cemetery.
Donations to Jessica’s House or the South Huron Community Choir would be appreciated by the family.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Jessica’s House for their superior care and compassion shown to Jean and her family. Our community is extremely lucky to have Hospice care like Jessica’s House.

Lori and Bill Danylchuk
Dear Raye and family,
Jean made such an impact on my life in such a short time. As a neighbour, Bill and I would say hi to her from across the fence. One day, our quick chat became longer when Jean mentioned that South Huron Community Choir was looking for an accompanist. That was the beginning of a beautiful friendship and common interest in music. She was a humble person who did a lot in the background to keep the choir running like a well – oiled machine, but did not like to be in the limelight. There is a huge void now, and Jean will be dearly missed.
Our sincere condolences to Raye and his family.

We are shocked and saddened at this sad news. I met Jean through work as we both were in financial institutions but got to know her better through the South Huron Community Choir and Church. She always had a smile, was very positive and always interested in what you were doing. I know how excited and proud she was to be a Grandma. I last spoke to Jean, although briefly, at the choir Christmas program and will cherish that conversation. Keep all the wonderful memories you made close to your heart and we trust they will help you through the difficult days ahead. May she rest in peace.

On behalf of our Exeter Golf Course Ladies League, I wish to express sincere condolences during this oh so sad time, to the family and loved ones of dear Jean, who had to leave us way too soon. She will not be forgotten by the many ladies who enjoyed her company walking the long 9th hole…..she did complain loudly about how LONG it was…. and her presence at our many functions and weekly lunches.
Jean’s faith was such that she, most likely now, is enjoying a whole new life beyond this one. We can hope to meet again!
I’ll miss your sweet smile Jean, and twinkly blue eyes and the loving energy and humour you shared with so many. Rest easy, dear friend.
