What can you say about a person who impacted your life, the life of your family and a whole community?? Jim did this and even though more than twenty years have passed since those days of St. David’s Choir, I remember them so vividly! He used the music of our folk mass to serve the Lord and we all felt privileged to be a part of this call! Jim was our leader and I still use the music he put together for us back then for church services today. You led us Jim through many masses, weddings, funerals, our TV appearance for the telethon and many other functions that wanted music. You made us a family, one that continues to connect after all this time. Your love for people and passion for the Lord will always be remembered!! I know you’re with our heavenly Father and that your lining up our next opportunity to sing for our Lord!!

I was truly saddened to learn about the loss of Mr. Hoffer. I will always fondly remember him and Mrs. Hoffer for their welcoming ways when you entered their home. I am always reminded of warm summers, camp fires and really cold days at the cottages down the HILL at North Channel Camp and of course the choir and all the practices at St.David’s Church. So many memories return to me everytime I go back to Noelville. I am sure he is in a much better place now. I hope the family finds much comfort amongst each other. Take care.

Jim just think you will not have to climb that long hill in winter any more. No more wet socks, cold feet.
We sure will miss you.

Juim has been my nezt-door neighbour for over 5 years. His gentle good humour, and kindness have been a real source of comfort for me., I can honestly say I have never mind a kinder gentler man in all my 84 years. It has been a rare privilege to have been the beneficiary of his friendship. All his children have been a fantastic soulce of pride and love for Jim as has his
extnded family.. He was a unique man – always had time, for new children moving in and fotr helping, in all kinds of waqys, those people who were aging or just not coping well . IIn my view He was areal treasure.. . I genuinly loved him.. My hope for him if hat he meetgs JO-Anne in heaven and untimately finds
the happiness he so richely deserves. God Bless you Jim and ALL your you family. love Barb

You don’t have to meet a person to know how great they are. All you have to do is meet someone in their family, and you can tell by the upbringing they had that the greatness was passed down.

Your Dad was a great man, the first time I met him he put a battery in my Jeep for me when it was 30 below zero, just because he had a good heart.

I am so sorry to hear of Jim’s passing. Dave and I have many memories of the Hoffer family when you lived in Aylmer and also when we took a couple of trips of to the north country. When I was a young teacher, Jim helped me with music at mass and Joanne helped me at school I see Keith in church from time to time and it makes me smile to see the Hoffers returned to Aylmer.

Deepest sympathies go to Uncle Jim and his/my family and friends. I found him a happy and joyful man who made me comfortable in his home. Many fondest memories were at the French river lodge, the ball tourneys, campfires and guitar playing; miss those times with the Hoffer family and wish I was closer and in contact with all of you. Feel free to add me on facebook CH1EF91 . Just because I’m not around or don’t have contact with most of you doesn’t mean I don’t think of all of you because I do. Just because I’m am an O’Neill should not separate us. My prayers go to all of you. Jim, may you rest happily in Heaven. You will be missed, even me.
Regards,
Ian

Very saddened to hear of Jim’s passing. He was one of the most gregarious people I ever met and always made time to talk. He could make anyone feel comfortable in a heartbeat. I have many fond memories of French River campfire singalongs and softball tournaments where his great sense of humour and comic timing were always a highlight. He will be missed – and never forgotten.
