Silently, one by one, in the infinite meadows of heaven, blossom the lovely stars, the forget-me-nots of the angels. HWL
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Ruth Martha Jeffery announce her passing on Thursday, October 8, 2020 at the age of 91. A much loved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother will truly be missed. We know she will be reunited with the love of her life and best friend Harry (2011) with whom she shared 58 years of marriage. Ruth’s whole life revolved around her family. Cherished mother of Mary Margaret and Gary Thompson of Parkhill, Paul and Jan Jeffery of Hensall, Shawn and Marion Jeffery of Hensall, Mark and Sheila Jeffery of Hanover and Nancy Jane and George Finch of Exeter. Cherished grandmother of Roxanna and Lee, Brandon and Katy, Caroline and Scott, Kathleen and Adam, Genevieve and Waurner; Marshall and Stacey, Chelsey and Brennan, Todd and Sara, Tara and Marc; Jacob, Stacey, and Shannon and Janet; Kayti and Rob, Adam; Nathan and Becca, Tyler, Vanessa. Great-grandmother 22. Dear sister-in-law of Eileen and Doug Rivers. Ruth was predeceased by her parents Martha (Gaiser) and Jacob Ratz, her siblings Gordon and Helen Ratz, Alma and Gerald Godbolt, Gladys and Emerson Bawden, Reta and Ray Collett, and brother-in-law Bob and Bernice Jeffery. Missed by her nieces and nephews, and her first cousin and close friend Elsie (Tuckey) Hermann.
Ruth spoke fondly of her childhood home at Khiva Corners. Ruth’s mother would often remind her to stay in close touch with her family, which she did her entire life. The members of her Crediton Zion United Church Sunday School class remained life long friends. She trained as a hair stylist in London. Ruth and Harry settled on the Jeffery homestead in Usborne Township in 1953 where they farmed and raised their 5 children. She was an active member of the Exeter UCW. Ruth and Harry enjoyed the company of their wonderful circle of friends and neighbours throughout the years.
A private family funeral service will be held on Friday, October 16 at 1 PM with Rev. Paul Ross officiating. Although the service is private, the family invites you to join with them from the comfort of your own home. Stream the service live by visiting www.facebook.com/haskettfh. Cremation with a private family interment will be held at a later date. Haskett Funeral Home, EXETER entrusted with arrangements.
Donations to the Diabetes Canada, Heart and Stroke Foundation, Exeter United Church or the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.

And now we remember the wonderful experiences and times that we have spent with Auntie Ruth and her whole family. We still live in the house that she was born in and we spent many an hour talking and reminising on changes that took place over the years, not only in her generation but also in her parents (my grandparents) generation. As the last of our aunts, we always relied on Aunt Ruth to remember family items that nobody else knew–( Mary Margaret continues in that role). The years fly by and as we gradually lost our parents and aunts and uncles (Aunt Ruth , you were the last) one realizes that 91 years passes in a flash. We are proud and happy to be friends and neighbours to the Jeffery clan and wish each of them well in their lifes trip , now without the love and guidance of their mother. As nieces and nephews, we remember well the life and times that we experienced with Uncle Harry and Aunt Ruth and look forward to many more with their legacy!

To all the Jeffery Families our sincere condolences. As a neighbour many years ago , I was sad to hear of Ruth’s passing. I remember her friendly smile and beautiful face very well. She came to our farm home at the time of my wedding in 1960 with Mary Margaret to see
my gifts s at my tea that my Mother Dorothy Down had prepared. Saw her many times over those years as our farm Clarence & Dorothy Down s was located right adjacent to Ruth & Harry’s.
She will be sadly missed but I’m sure she has left many wonderful memories for all her family to cherish .

A couple things come to mind when I think of her. One- her infectious laugh. Nothing could outshine her when she was having a good time. And second was her ‘genuine’ kindness & love of people & family. Those two things always stood out for me. She was truly a bright light and I know you will all miss her.

To All the Jeffery Family:
We want to say how very sorry we are for Aunt Ruth’s passing. She was always such a kind, considerate and caring woman. When my sister, Catherine and I would go up to the farm on our summer vacations she treated us like her own children and there was never a harsh word spoken. She was just the kindest person I knew. Both Aunt Ruth and Uncle Harry raised a beautiful family, my cousins, and they followed in their caring footsteps. I will always remember her laugh which made us all happy, too! She is now with Uncle Harry, but has left a beautiful legacy for her children and all their families to carry on with. Aunt Ruth we will miss you so much, but we know that we are all better people for having known you. They say that you are never really gone until the last person says your name for the last time. And so I know you will be with us for a very long time. Love Barb, Ben, Paul and Lisa Lanthier
