To the Sills Family,
The passing of Jim is truly a tremendous loss. He was a deeply devoted family man, a highly respected businessman, community volunteer extraordinaire, pillar of his church, and so much more. Jim Sills was the “S” in Seaforth. He exemplified all that is authentic and true in a wonderful person in his humble, polite, humorous, gentlemanly ways. It was both an honour and a privilege to know Jim for over 35 years. To Jim and the entire Sills Family may God hold all of you in the palm of his hand.

My sincere sympathy to Anne and Family.

I’m writing this on behalf of my sister Dee Dee (Darlene) and myself. There are no words to express our sorrow for your loss, may you find comfort in the loving memories you shared while Jim was alive. Memories of Jim will bring you comfort during this hard time. Look back on all the good memories and laughter you were able to share. I have memories of Jim and Frank carrying Dinah and the girls out to the street when their front yard would flood. Memories of the Sills clan walking to midnight Mass on Christmas Eve, and of course babysitting the little ones too. When I moved away, Dee took over. The last time I was downtown Seaforth was a number of years ago but Jim was outside the store talking to someone … that must be a Sills character trait … always talking and story telling. Jim’s contribution to Seaforth will be remembered for many years to come. He has been an excellent ambassador of Seaforth.
We can only hope and believe that a person that departs from this earth never truly leaves, for they are still alive in our hearts and minds, through us, they live on. Jim will not be forgotten.
To Anne and Jim’s sisters …. I wish my injuries would have allowed us to visit you personally to share your loss.
Our love to all the Sills family, Anne, Tracey and Jeff, Ted, Don and Lindsay, and Tim and Jennifer and Tara and all his grandchildren, Anne and John, Mary and Gerald, Jane and Len, Marg and Phil, Joan and Neil and all his nieces and nephews.
Love Joanne and Dee Whitman

To all Jim&&single&&s family, We had hoped to extend our sympathy to each of you in a personal way but stormy skies and zero visibility on the roads prevented that. Jim and Anne helped our family (Heather) learn the intricacies of customer satisfaction in a business setting at her after school and weekend job at Sills Hardware. Jim was a fair and compassionate leader to those who worked with him. He surely liked a little joke or two and we will miss him. Sending hugs. Neil and Marie McGavin
Ann & Family we are so sorry to hear about Jim passing he was a very kind man and always spoke when you see him on the street . Sending hugs to you all at this difficult time . xoxo RIP JIM !!!! You will be miss in Seaforth

Our sincere sympathy in Jim’s passing. Keep your memories of him close to your heart.
Annette and I were deeply saddened at the passing of Jim and we send our thoughts and prayers to the entire family. I have many fond memories of Jim going back to playing hockey in Seaforth and needing a stick at the last minute for a game on a Saturday night. Running into the hardware store and getting advice from Jim on what the best Sherwood hockey stick was and him telling me he would put it on my dad&&single&&s account. As well, at Christmas doing the last minute shop for something, we could always count on Jim having the store open and helping out. Countless memories of being at the fire hall with dad playing cards with Jim on Saturday afternoons. Although we did not get a chance to see Jim very often throughout the year, Christmas Eve at St. James was always a time when I would wait until after mass to get my yearly hug from Anne and a handshake and a friendly hello from Jim. Hold his memory close and know Seaforth has lost a great friend.

My heart sunk today when I learned of Jim&&single&&s passing. I was lucky enough to work for him throughout high-school and post-secondary – and he even hired me back years later! He had a gift of making me be a better person, and go the extra mile, mostly because I didn&&single&&t want to see his disappointed look he sometimes would give me. He was an intricate part of my teenage years and helped me see the good side to things and people. However, he also could infuriate me when teasing me about boys, being late for curfews or when I was too chatty with the customers and needed to get work done! :)
He was more than a boss to me. He was more like a second father to me – and made me feel like one of the family to which that made me very proud.
He taught me the values of community, family and friends while teaching me to go above and beyond when doing any type of job. I will never forget him.
You are all in my thoughts and prayers at the difficult time.
In deepest sympathies;
Heather (McGavin) & Bryan Kelso & family.
To the Sills family sending my deepest sympathy.
Sincerely
Joanne Dorssers.

Jill and I are saddened to hear of Jim’s passing. As many others have experienced, Jim’s was the face we saw when we popped into the hardware store for a this or a that. If it wasn’t on the shelves, a quick trip by Jim to the basement or the back room would produce the very article needed. He even became a Santa’s helper with his cutting and drilling for teepees for our grandchildren! We particularly enjoyed Jim’s tours and explanations of the equipment upstairs that were showcased during Open Doors days. Anne and family, our warmest thoughts are with you. Margaret and Joan, we wish the weather would allow us to visit you personally to share your loss. Jim’s contribution to our community will be remembered for many years to come. He has been an excellent ambassador of the Sills dynasty. All the best, Terry and Jill Johnston.

Anne and family. It&&single&&s with great sorrow on hearing of Jim passing away. Sure with miss him.Had lots of laughs and stories to share. A couple of years ago I went in to the store and Bought some grass seed from Jim. Only to return to the store some days later to ask Jim what kind of grass seed he sold me. So Jim looked at me with a smile and sincere concern with my problem ask what was the problem. So with that I proceeded to tell him that the grass grew but the roots were on top and the grass blades went down causing me to think it was Chinese grass. Well with that and not one slight hesitation. Jim said …..John you opened the wrong end of the box.God Bless you all. John and Rose
