Peacefully at his residence surrounded by his family Douglas Gerald Johnston, of Lucan, passed away at the age of 79 on September 11, 2024. Beloved husband of Suzanne (Kyle) Johnston for over 56 years. Loving father of Rod and Tara Johnston, and Shelley and Trevor Curry. Proud grandfather of Megan, Allie and Shayne; Olivia. Dear brother-in-law of Brad and Deborah McCann, Don Kyle, and Doug and Sharon Kyle. Predeceased by his parents George and Freda Johnston, sister Brenda McCann (2002), and sister-in-law Barbara Kyle (2023). Doug worked for the Village of Lucan for 27 years and was a member of the Lucan Volunteer Fire Department for 20 years. He also enjoyed volunteering his time with many Lucan organizations, mainly BBQing or behind the grill. Doug enjoyed playing and watching baseball, camping and playing his banjo. A special thank you to St. Elizabeth Nurses Sabu and Eldo and Nurse Practitioner Phil Daniels for their care and compassion.
A casual come-and-go celebration of Doug’s life will be held at the Lions Active Living Centre, 263 Main Street, LUCAN on Tuesday, September 17th from 4-6 PM.
Donations to the Strathroy Middlesex General Hospital Foundation in support of new MRI imaging equipment would be appreciated by the family.
