Uncle Ferg, my Godparent, was a great influence in my life: most recently, when I needed support when Francis (my father) was in hospitalization before his eventual passing. From the start to finish, no matter the gaps in between, Ferg was there for you.
I look forward to the day when close family and friends can meet again, and celebrate Uncle Ferg’s life and accomplishments.
Until then, my thoughts are with Aunt Anne and family.
Warm regards,
Richard Maloney

Dear Anne, Mike & Ann, AnneMarie, Cathy, Mary Margaret and families, Sending to you our deepest condolences on Ferg’s passing. Love & prayers are sent to you all.
Many of my earliest memories were at your kitchen table or playing ‘Trouble’ upstairs at your place; Ferg & Anne always made you feel welcome and at home.
I always knew Ferg as Grandpa’s ‘Young Friend’ & he remains that to me to this day :-)
A little story -Anne/Ferg’s place remain entrenched in our generations- &across the miles- in a commonly used idiom with roots in Perth/Huron county.
I am unsure if common knowledge to you & whether still used there but For us any euchre game will inevitably include the announcement of “I’m going around by Kelly’s” when leading a card … I’m not sure who originated – perhaps someone fr Mamie/Joes or Frances/Teds…or ? but to who ever started this they were taking the long way to their desired location..& the saying has stuck. It may have been another Kelly’s referenced but for me I’ll always think of Kelly’s on #8 ..& smile . Anyhow, I hope the story brings a smile to you & yours (& you understand my explanation-lol). Love & prayers xo Deb

So sad to hear of Ferg’s passing. I was fortunate to run into Ferg a few times at the arenas when my son was young. He was always the same smiling face that I knew when I was young and we used to visit the farm with my parents, Ben & Rosemary. But I’ll tell you that Ferg hated losing to my father at euchre. There was more than one time when the cheating accusations would ring as loud as the laughter.

I am saddened to hear of Uncle Ferg’s passing. I have fond memories of spending time on the farm with Aunt Anne and Uncle Ferg as a child. In later years, I relished the meetings with Uncle Ferg as he was always in great spirits and I always enjoyed the conversation over the latest book he had read on Irish history! RIP Uncle Ferg…

My deepest sympathies to Anne, Mike, Anne Marie, Cathy, Mary Margaret and their families; and to Ferg’s siblings and in-laws. Sending prayers for healing and comfort in this difficult time. Many fond memories of the Kelly’s sitting behind us in Church, and Ferg (and Anne) patiently tolerating my Dad getting the kids revved up with nonsense (or candy) before Mass! Ferg always had a ready smile, a pleasantry to impart, or a witty retort! He may have picked up some of thise wittisms from the voluminous mounds of books he exchanged with my Dad. I recall numerous trips to “run these books up to Ferg”. He was a pillar in the community and will certainly be missed!
