Sombath, Phon and family,
I was so sad to hear of Michael’s passing. I was one of the lucky ones who was able to work with Michael at Precious Blood School. Michael was a true gift to us all and touched the lives of everyone he met, including mine. I will always remember his gentle hugs, his beautiful smile, the quiet giggles, his pride showing his stickers, high fives, and his mastery with puzzles was simply amazing! Micheal’s soft little voice saying “hi”, “bye” and “thank you” made everyone around him smile. My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this very difficult time. Michael, may your little body rest in peace xo

I taught French at Precious Blood CES when Michael was in Grade 4. The class was doing a French play and Michael agreed to be the Narrator. His EA Julia and I recorded the lines and then Michael would follow along and press play when it was his turn to deliver his lines. He was so excited and engaged! That is such a joyful memory that I will never forget. We all benefited from Michael’s enthusiastic attitude toward life!

My sincere condolences to Michael’s family. I have had the pleasure of working with Michael for the last few years at South Huron, both as a teacher, and spec. ed. facilitator. I fear I will need to bring a flashlight with me to school this year, since we won’t have Michael’s smile and personality to light up every room. I can’t help but smile through my sadness as I think of the puzzles, stickers, and drawings we used to do; not to mention the thousand “hi’s” and high fives every day. My family is sending our thoughts and prayers to yours. Michael, you will be greatly missed! High Five!!!!

Michael’s heart was bigger than he was. His smile could make anyone melt and his gentle nature was so incredibly endearing. I enjoyed getting to know Michael last year in Grade 9 at SHDHS and I was looking forward to having him in my Grade 10 class this year. His love of books surpassed even mine, and he was always showing off a new sticker he had received. His time with us was so short, but his impact on everyone around him was infinite. My deepest condolences to you all.
