It is with great sadness that we share the passing of our wonderful mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Shirley Luther in her 89th year. She passed away peacefully at Huron Hospice, Clinton on June 27, 2021. She is now reunited with her husband, the love of her life, Eric Luther (2016). Shirley was born in Deer Lake, NL and cherishes her Newfoundland family. Shirley is known for her love of people, her love of life and her love of family. She was outgoing and compassionate. Nothing made her happier than cooking, and providing for any and all. Her faith in the Lord was very strong, and she was a devoted volunteer with the Salvation Army for over 50 years. Shirley will be deeply missed by her children: Donald and Helen Luther, Rick and Carol Luther, Sue and Jim Stewart, and Helga and John Scott. Cherished Grandma to Adam and Laura Luther, Rachel and Gary Hynd, Jason, Jennifer and Adrian Luther, Katie and Doug Fournier, Sam and Cassie Stewart. Wonderful Great Grandma to: Polly and Caspar, Teddy, George and Eric, Josi, Arnie and Lauren, Ella and Grace. A private ceremony of close family has already taken place. If desired, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Salvation Army of Goderich or the Huron Hospice, of Clinton. Haskett Funeral Home, EXETER entrusted with arrangements. The kindness, care, and compassion that Shirley and family received at the Huron Hospice over the last few weeks is greatly appreciated and cherished.

To the family of Shirley Luther,
I am truly sadden to read of Shirley’s passing. I’ve sent her snail- mail which was returned, all taking a very long time to get back to me. After my father died in March 1992, both Shirley and Eric were angels on earth toward my mother, Amy Lanzer , when they all lived in Boynton Beach, FL . Shirley was truly amazing, always thinking of others and doing so much for everyone. I can still hear her laugh…a pleasant sound, for sure. =)
I will miss her and yet, I know she is reunited with her beloved husband, Eric, both spending eternity with our Lord.
May your find comfort and peace in memories and loving times spent together. God Bless you all. Cathie Jordan

So sorry to hear of Shirley’s passing. I will always remember how much she meant to my grandfather (Everett Fletcher) during his final years at Queensway Nursing Home. Grandpa loved her visits and especially enjoyed her singing the old hymns for him.

Sympathy to Shirley’s family,
Shirley was just a lovely lady in the true sense of the word!
When able she always shopped at our store in Exeter, and while able she always arrived about a week before Christmas with a huge tray of Christmas goodies for management and staff, saying it was just because she loved us all. What a woman! One of the best!
Keep her close at heart forever, she will never leave you.
She loved the Lord and proudly said so.
May she Rest In Peace.

To Shirley’s family—- I met Shirley when I moved into Harbour Hill although I knew the Luther name from our many years in Exeter where Ken taught at SHDHS. Shirley loved to talk to me about Deer Lake as we spent time visiting the area and we loved Nfld. I will never hear “ In the Garden” without thinking of Shirley and sometimes I would play a hymn as she sang it! I miss her and her lovely smile. Please accept my deepest sympathy as you find comfort in fond memories.
Sincerely, Lois Ottewell.
