I was so very fortunate to get to know Mabel through working at the Villa. She was such a inspirational person. She never complained but instead enjoyed meeting new people and getting to know them. She was a sweet lady with always a wonderful story or few to share. Sorry for your loss.

Whenever Mable and I met for a visit or a meal I always read my latest McLean’s beforehand and listened carefully to the news so I could keep up my half of the conversation. Mable enriched my life, she was an inspiration to me and her kindness and humour were a blessing.
I extend my deepest sympathy to her family. Today I have added her star to our memorial Christmas tree and lit a candle in honour of her. God be with all of you and bless you.

Barb,
I feel so so sad for you at this time because I know how hard it is to lose a parent. I have read all the messages about your Mom and I have learned through the stories of others what a wonderful person she was. I wasn’t surprised because the stories you told of her shone a light on her so bright and beautiful. My thoughts are with you and I can’t wait to talk to you more about your Mom. I didn’t know she was a teacher, too. I’m sure you have lots more stories to share.
Love to you and your family,
Lynne

My thoughts of Mabel go back to when she first came to our Dining for seniors program. First she was a valued member of my Advisory Committee and then became a client. She always was so gentle and gracious. Mabel always brought special treats to the staff in the office here on John Street. She would invite me over to the Villa for lunch and we would remember all the fun we used to have at meetings and dinners. Mabel was a gem to be around. I read her history book and all her stories of her teaching experiences. Mabel also made the best cherry cheesecake and I use her recipe all the time to impress people because I have a lack of cooking skills. Miss you Mabel and I know that you are in a better place where there is no suffering or pain.
